Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II is ready to support the successful holding of the Lake Toba F1 Powerboat World Championship, Indonesia, on 25-26 February 2023.
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said the Lake Toba F1 Powerboat event increased Indonesia's tourism competitiveness in the world, as well as showed that Indonesia was capable of hosting international events.
"For this reason, one of our efforts to be able to compete globally is to promote Indonesian tourism through international events. After the G20, Indonesia is seen as capable of hosting international events. Furthermore, this F1 Powerboat is one of the things that we are actively promoting," said the Menkomarvest.
BUMN Deputy Minister II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said BUMN had made various preparations.
"Then, for connectivity and airport readiness, Angkasa Pura II has prepared its services to welcome the arrival of participants and tourists, and so on," explained Deputy Minister of BUMN II.
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said the company's airports were ready to support the success of organizing the Lake Toba F1 Powerboat.
Three airports play an important role, namely Sisingamangaraja XII Airport (North Tapanuli) which is located about 30 minutes from the F1 Powerboat venue, then supporting airports namely Kualanamu Airport (Deli Serdang, North Sumatra), Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Banten) and Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (Jakarta). .
"The existence of Sisingamangaraja XII Airport from the start was to support Lake Toba as a Super Priority Tourism Destination, and AP II is ready to make this happen. AP II has carried out sustainable development at Sisingamangaraja XII Airport. This airport has been prepared to welcome international events such as the F1 Powerboat," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin ensured the availability of flight time slots at Sisingamangaraja XII Airport to support the F1 Powerboat.
"Currently Sisingamangaraja XII Airport operates 8 hours every day, if needed, operational hours are ready to be extended to accommodate additional flights (extra flights). What is clear, AP II ensures that flight slot time is available for the airline," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
There are 3 airlines that serve daily flights from Jakarta to Sisingamangaraja XII Airport and vice versa, namely Citilink and Batik Air, as well as AirAsia Indonesia 3 times a week.
There have been requests for additional flight schedules, one of which is from AirAsia Indonesia, which will serve flights to 7x a week.
"We have carried out collaboration with stakeholders including airlines and ground handling. Service standards are ensured to be maintained, both related to flight timeliness (on-time performance) to aircraft passenger baggage services," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
AP II Director of Engineering Agus Wialdi said the facilities at Sisingamangaraja XII Airport were confirmed to be ready, including airside facilities, namely parking stands for 8 aircraft units and a runway with dimensions of 2,650 x 45 meters which could accommodate aircraft of the Boeing 737-800 Next Generation class and Airbus A320.
Facilities and services
AP II has also prepared special handling for delegates or F1 Powerboat team personnel arriving at Sisingamangaraja XII Airport.
AP II Director of Commercial and Services M. Rizal Pahlevi said there was a welcome and special personnel for the delegates.
"The F1 Powerboat delegation arriving at Sisingamangaraja XII Airport will be greeted with regional dances and special assistance by the liaison officer, and a transit room will be prepared. After the arrival process at the airport was complete, the delegates then headed to the hotel with special transportation," explained M. Rizal Pahlevi.
Kualanamu Airport is also ready to welcome tourists who come to tour Medan and its surroundings and then head to the Lake Toba F1 Powerboat venue.
M. Rizal Pahlevi said Kualanamu Airport serves international flights to welcome domestic tourists and foreign tourists who have long vacation plans including attending the Lake Toba F1 Powerboat.
"The Lake Toba F1 Powerboat is an attraction for tourists, where they can have a long vacation in North Sumatra, including to see the Lake Toba F1 Powerboat event," said M. Rizal Pahlevi.
The Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Banten) as the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia will connect various cities with Sisingamangaraja XII Airport.
Meanwhile, Main Director of InJourney Dony Oskaria explained that currently the readiness of the F1 Powerboat is almost complete. "Wet Paddock and Dry Paddock have been completed, then the podium will soon be completed, and container cargo has also arrived in Belawan. Of course, we are not only preparing event infrastructure, but also other supporting facilities," Dony explained.
