Jakarta - Kertajati Airport in Majalengka on Saturday, November 26 2022, again released the departure of the Umrah congregation.
As many as 375 Umrah pilgrims departed from Kertajati Airport to Medina (Saudi Arabia) today using Lion Air flight number JT 068 which was operated by an Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft, which took off at around 13.15 WIB.
Previously on November 20 2022, Kertajati Airport for the first time since the pandemic was also the departure airport for Umrah pilgrims with Garuda Indonesia.
The departure of the Umrah congregation from Kertajati Airport today was also released by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi who was accompanied by, among others, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin and President Director of Lion Air Group Capt. Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi.
AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said Kertajati Airport was expected to make it easier for people from West Java to carry out the Umrah pilgrimage.
"Today, 375 Umrah pilgrims departed from Kertajati Airport, where the number is almost 100% of the seat capacity of the Lion Air Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The enthusiasm of the pilgrims from West Java to fly from Kertajati Airport was very high. The congregation said flying from Kertajati Airport was more comfortable and it was closer to where they lived."
"We thank the Minister of Transportation who really supports the realization of Umrah flights from Kertajati Airport, to make it easier for the people of West Java to carry out the Umrah pilgrimage," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
In the same place, President Director of Lion Air Group Capt. Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi said that the Kertajati - Medina flight carried 375 Umrah pilgrims and used the Premium Service - Umrah service.
"The Kertajati Airport - Medina route uses the Premium Service - Umrah service, with 18 business class seats and 374 economy class seats. Departing on this first flight were 375 pilgrims," said Capt. Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi.
Maria Kristi, Expert Staff for Connectivity and Safety at the Minister of Transportation, who was also present at the departure of the Lion Air flight JT 068 said that Kertajati Airport has complete facilities to serve Umrah pilgrims.
"We are proud that this airport can serve Umrah flights. We appreciate and thank all those who have helped," said Maria Kristi.
Maria Kristi also hopes that flight traffic at Kertajati Airport can increase in the future.
"Airlines operating have also increased, routes from Kertajati Airport to all airports in Indonesia are increasing. This airport can function well to open up connectivity," explained Maria Kristi.
