Discussing Airport Development, AP II Meets Three Giant Companies on the Sidelines of the B20 Business Forum in Bali

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II held a meeting with three of the world's giant companies to discuss and explore the possibility of cooperation in the development of airports managed by the company.

The AP II meeting with global companies will take place on 13-14 November 2022 on the sidelines of the B20 Summit Indonesia 2022 business forum which is part of the G20 Summit which is taking place in Bali.

The global companies that met with AP II were Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) from the United States, VINCI Airports from France represented by Relecom & Partners, and GMR Group from India.

AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the B20 Summit Indonesia 2022 business forum was a meeting place for industry players from various countries.

"In line with that, AP II held a meeting with three global companies that were also present at B20. The meeting was held on the sidelines of B20, where the purpose of the meeting was to get to know each other and explore opportunities to accelerate the development of AP II airports in terms of infrastructure and flight network development," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

At the AP II - GIP meeting which was held on 13 November 2022, the Managing Director of Emerging Market Fund GIP Ray Nadarajah and also the ranks of the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) were present.

GIP is one of the largest infrastructure investors in the world, currently managing assets worth a total of US$84 billion. In the transportation sector, especially airports, the GIP portfolio includes the management of Sydney Airport (Australia), London City Airport and Gatwick Airport (England), and Edinburgh Airport (Scotland).

"At this meeting, AP II and GIP discussed how to optimize the value of each asset at the airport. We also discussed developments in the investment climate in the aviation industry," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Then on November 14, 2022 a meeting was held between AP II and Relecom & Partners as representatives of VINCI Airport, and the GMR Group, which discussed various possible developments that could be carried out at the airport.

VINCI Airport itself is one of the five largest airport operators in the world. Headquartered in Nanterre, France, currently VINCI Airport manages 52 airports in 11 countries and partners with more than 300 airlines.

"VINCI Airport has a very strong flight network, operating in 11 countries and partnering with more than 300 airlines. In addition, as with AP II, VINCI Airport is committed to supporting the net-zero carbon emission sustainability program by 2050 in the global aviation industry," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Meanwhile, the GMR Group was represented, among others, President Director of GMR Indonesia Satyanarayana KV.

GMR Group is one of India's largest multinational companies with portfolios in the transportation, airport, energy and other sectors.

Discussions conducted with the GMR Group related to the development of aircraft repair shops (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul/MRO), then the development of cargo services, to the development of the airport into an aerocity area.

"The development of the airport towards the aerocity area will enable an airport to optimize its assets. The aerocity area was developed to provide various public facilities in the airport area, including offices, hospitals, entertainment areas, shopping areas, restaurants, hotels and so on. The airport becomes like an independent city," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

The meeting with the three global companies follows a meeting held by AP II with global institutions namely the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Airport Council International (ACI) some time ago in Canada.
