SPKLU Officially Opened Today at Terminal 3, the Electric Vehicle Ecosystem at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is Growing

Soekarno-Hatta Airport stakeholders are busy transforming their fleet into electric cars

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II today, Wednesday 9 November 2022, officially opened the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) at Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

SPKLU is located in the T3 domestic parking area, equipped with 1 unit of DC fast charging machine with a capacity of 40 kWh with 2 sockets (Combined Charging System-2 and CHAdeMo) and 1 unit of AC charging machine with a capacity of 22 kWh with 2 sockets (type 2 and GBT).

"The SPKLU at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the first in the airport area in Indonesia to be provided directly by the airport operator, in this case, AP II," said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin when inaugurating the SPKLU at Terminal 3.

In the early stages, SPKLU functioned as a non-commercial service to support the operational fleet of the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency.

Muhammad Awaluddin said the opening of the SPKLU was also an effort to develop an electric vehicle ecosystem at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"The number of electric vehicles in Indonesia, both four-wheeled and two-wheeled, continues to grow, the government continues to encourage additional facilities to support the use of electric vehicles, and AP II as an airport operator does not miss out on providing facilities, namely by presenting SPKLU at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. This is also our effort to build an electric vehicle ecosystem and encourage more use of electric vehicles at airports.”

"Public transportation service providers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport such as Blue Bird, Grab, Gojek and so on have transformed their fleet into electric-based vehicles. AP II next year will also accelerate the use of electric vehicles. Gradually, the use of operational vehicles at AP II, including at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, will be based on electric vehicles," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

The existence of this SPKLU is also a form of AP II supporting global initiatives related to sustainability.

"The global aviation industry has agreed to reduce carbon emissions as proclaimed in the Net-zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 program. AP II makes this happen through various initiatives, including encouraging the use of electric vehicles," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin said the existence of SPKLU increasingly complements various public facilities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport has become a kind of small town or independent city with various facilities and AP II does not stop adding various public facilities," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

SPKLU within AP II itself is managed by PT Angkasa Pura Solusi (APS) which is a subsidiary of AP II.

APS President Director Dorma Manalu said that after being in Terminal 3 in the near future, SPKLU will also be present at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cargo Terminal and then gradually at other airports managed by AP II.

"Development continues and in the future commercialization will be carried out with a cashless payment system using an application," explained Dorma Manalu.

Also present at the inauguration of the SPKLU at Terminal 3 were President of Grab Indonesia Ridzki Kramadibrata, VP of Central Operation Blue Bird Aris Budiarto and Kasatlantas Polres Soekarno-Hatta Airport Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq.

President of Grab Indonesia Ridzki Kramadibrata said the SPKLU at Terminal 3 is a form of full support for the electric vehicle ecosystem at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“This is a good support for the electric vehicle ecosystem. Currently there are 20 units of Grab electric vehicles at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and there will be more," explained Ridzki Kramadibrata.

Blue Bird's VP of Central Operation Aris Budiarto said Blue Bird strongly supports the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“Electric vehicles at Soekarno-Hatta Airport include Tesla and BYD, for regular and rental taxis. In the future, the number of electric vehicle fleets will continue to grow," said Aris Budiarto.

The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police have also equipped their fleet with electric vehicles.

Kasatlantas Polres Soekarno-Hatta Airport Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq said the presence of this SPKLU proves that realizing Soekarno-Hatta Airport as a world-class airport is not rhetoric.

"Police at Soekarno-Hatta Airport have also used electric vehicles which are also used for handling G20 security and are now supported by the SPKLU," said Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq.

Through the collaboration of all stakeholders, the electric vehicle ecosystem will continue to grow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and support government programs that target the use of electric vehicles to reach 80% by 2030.
