Two of Asean's Largest Airport Operators, AP II and Changi Airport Group, Explore Collaboration in 3 Aspects to Accelerate Flight Recovery

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II and Changi Airport Group again held a second meeting in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area, Tangerang, today Wednesday, August 3, 2022, after the first meeting which was held in Singapore on June 16, 2022.

The second meeting was held at AP II Head Office, attended by, among others, AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin and Changi Airport Group CEO Lee Seow Hiang.

AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said AP II and Changi Airport Group currently have the same goal, namely accelerating the recovery of the aviation sector which has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"AP II and Changi Airport Group as the two largest airport operators in the Asean region are exploring cooperation so that we can make a significant contribution in encouraging flight recovery, both in Indonesia and Southeast Asia," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Muhammad Awaluddin also said that AP II is currently promoting recovery through collaboration with various parties at airports managed by the company, including Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“Flight recovery at AP II airports is going well. The recovery rate at Soekarno-Hatta Airport even now has reached around 82%, in other words, flight traffic has been around 82% from 2019 when there was no pandemic, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

In the meeting, AP II and Changi Airport Group explored three aspects for collaboration, namely:

1. Synergy of tourism development
AP II and Changi Airport Group will work together to develop the tourism sector.

AP II asked Changi Airport Group to provide special space at Changi Airport such as digital banners and other media to promote 5 super priority destinations in Indonesia, namely Borobudur Temple (Central Java), Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara), Labuan Bajo (Nusa Tenggara). East), Lake Toba (North Sumatra) and Likupang (North Sulawesi).

"We hope that the promotion of these 5 super priority destinations can support the tourism growth sector in Indonesia. International passengers after landing at Soekarno-Hatta Airport can continue their journey to 5 super priority destinations," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

2. Synergy in the implementation of Airport Collaborative Decision Making (ACDM) between Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Changi Airport
AP II has implemented ACDM at Soekarno-Hatta Airport as a system that accommodates real time information-based cooperation from all stakeholders, namely airport operators, airlines, ground handling, air traffic services and other supporting partners.

"ACDM synergy between Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Changi Airport can make flights on the Jakarta - Singapore route more optimal and efficient, which leads to increased services for passengers," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Changi Airport Group CEO Lee Seow Hiang said Changi Airport and Soekarno-Hatta Airport are partners who, if synergized, will have a large system.

If Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Changi Airport can synergize related to flight operations, one of which is through ACDM, the two airports can plan well, for example in dealing with flight delays (delays).

“If we are together, then we have a big system,” said Lee Seow Hiang.

Currently, the average flight on the Jakarta - Singapore route is 37 flights (take off and landing) in one day, where so far the Jakarta - Singapore - Jakarta route has become one of the busiest international routes in the world.

Following up on this ACDM synergy plan, AP II and Changi Airport Group will form a joint team to discuss the implementation of ACDM.

3. Flight optimization
AP II and Changi Airport Group together with airlines in this recovery period, in accordance with applicable regulations, will encourage flight optimization at AP II airports.

One of the ways to optimize flights is to encourage collaboration in flight operations, for example, passengers from Singapore to Jakarta can easily continue flights to other AP II airports.

Muhammad Awaluddin said the second meeting between AP II and Changi Airport Group would be followed up by forming a joint team between the two airport operators, so that the goal of accelerating flight recovery can be achieved.
