Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the only airport in Indonesia with Makkah Route facilities for pilgrims to process Saudi Arabia immigration pre-clearance before leaving for the Holy Land
Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II is ready to serve the departure of pilgrims starting June 4, 2022.
AP II airports designated as embarkation for hajj flights are Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang), Kualanamu Airport (Deli Serdang), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang), Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport (Aceh) and Minangkabau Airport (Padang).
"Coordination has been carried out by AP II with the Ministry of Religion, the Immigration, Customs and Excise Office, TNI and Polri, AirNav Indonesia and airlines so that the departure of pilgrims to the Holy Land can be carried out properly, starting from the hajj dormitory to the AP II airport," said the President. Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin.
"Five AP II airports will serve the departure of 41,713 pilgrims in 106 groups," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Muhammad Awaluddin added, "Airport facilities are ready including the air and security side including runway, taxiway, apron, baggage make up area, garbarata, to x-rays for security checks, walkthrough metal detectors, handheld metal detectors, including flight time slot arrangements. Hajj."
"Hajj flights will also support the sustainable recovery of the aviation sector," Muhammad Awaluddin explained.
Following are the preparations for each AP II airport:
Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang)
Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the embarkation airport with the largest number of pilgrims, namely 29,221 pilgrims from DKI Jakarta, West Java, Banten and Lampung, who are members of 73 groups.
The departure process was carried out at Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Bekasi Hajj Dormitory and Lampung Hajj Dormitory.
In each dormitory, pilgrims undergo the immigration process, health and security checks, among others, by Aviation Security. Meanwhile, for each pilgrim's baggage, the Customs and Excise process is carried out and security checks are carried out by Aviation Security.
"The departure process, including the security check point for the departure of pilgrims through Soekarno-Hatta Airport, is carried out at the Hajj hostel, supported by AP II equipment, facilities and personnel," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
After going through the departure process at the hajj dormitory, the pilgrims take the bus to the airside of Terminal 2 Soekarno-Hatta Airport and then head to the central corridor of Terminal 2
The central corridor in Terminal 2 has a capacity of around 900 - 1,000 pilgrims as a place to wait for pilgrims to process Saudi Arabia's immigration pre-clearance through the Makkah Route scheme.
"Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the only airport in Indonesia that is equipped with early migration pre-clearance service facilities for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the Makkah Route. So, before leaving for the Holy Land, pilgrims can undergo the immigration process of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, to make it easier for pilgrims on arrival at Medina or Jeddah airports, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
The Makkah Route facility at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is equipped with 15 Saudi Arabian immigration counters, which can carry out the immigration pre-clearance process in about 60 seconds for each passenger/congregation.
After the Saudi Arabian immigration pre-clearance process is over, the pilgrims then head to the boarding lounge to be ready to leave for the Holy Land with Garuda Indonesia or Saudia airlines.
Kualanamu Airport (Deli Serdang)
Kualanamu Airport serves the departure of pilgrims from North Sumatra as many as 10 groups with a total of 3,854 pilgrims.
The departure process, including immigration and security, is carried out at the Hajj hostel, then pilgrims take the bus to the air side to board the plane.
Minangkabau Airport (Padang)
Minangkabau Airport serves the departure of pilgrims from West Sumatra and Bengkulu as many as 2,883 pilgrims in 8 groups.
The departure process for pilgrims including immigration and security is carried out at the Hajj hostel, while the baggage inspection process for passengers is at the Minangkabau Airport Cargo Terminal.
Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport (Aceh)
Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport serves the departure of 6 groups with 2,023 pilgrims.
The departure process, including immigration and security, is carried out at Asmara Haji for the pilgrims by bus to the air side of the airport.
Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang)
Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport serves the departure of 3,732 pilgrims from South Sumatra and Bangka in 9 groups.
At the Hajj hostel, pilgrims go through the departure process including immigration and security and then by bus to the air side.
