Minister of Transportation Appreciates the Smooth Transportation of Eid 2022 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

Successfully escorting the homecoming flow, AP II Airport is preparing to welcome the return flow

The Minister of Transportation appreciated all stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta Airport for organizing Eid transportation, especially during the homecoming flow well and smoothly.

"With fewer facilities, it can create a lot of movement," said the Minister of Transportation.

In the same place, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said the peak of homecoming flow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport occurred on April 28-30 2022, where the peak of the highest homecoming flow was on April 29, 2022.

On April 28 (D-4) there were 135,832 passenger movements, then on April 29 (D-3) the highest was 141,347 people and on April 30 (D-2) 126,298 people.

"Thanks to close coordination between all stakeholders, Soekarno-Hatta Airport can organize Eid transportation, especially during this homecoming period well and smoothly, paying attention to aspects of security, safety, service and compliance with various regulations including health protocols," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

In total, the movement of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on the homecoming flow from D-10 to D-2 (22-30 April) was recorded at 1.04 million people.

Meanwhile, cumulatively at 20 AP II airports, the number of passenger movements on the homecoming flow from D-10 to D-2 reached 1.63 million people.

Meanwhile, on May 2 - 3 2022 (estimated Eid day), the number of passenger movements at AP II airport is predicted to be lower than the homecoming period.

Air traffic at AP II airport will again increase in the return period starting on May 4.

"Currently, stakeholders at AP II airport are ready to welcome the return flow from May 4, where we estimate the peak of the return flow on May 7-9, where the peak of the highest homecoming flow will be on May 8," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Cumulatively at 20 airports, the number of passenger movements on May 7 is predicted to be 166,312 people, then on May 8 the highest is 199,857 people, and May 9 is 179,542 people.

Meanwhile, specifically at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the movement of passengers on May 7 was estimated at 145,716 people, then on May 8 the highest was 154,914 people and on May 9 as many as 136,595 people.

Muhammad Awaluddin said AP II appealed to travelers when traveling to avoid the peak period of backflow.

"We hope that the increase in flight traffic can be evenly distributed throughout May 4-9, and not only focused on May 7-9," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin said that Soekarno-Hatta Airport as an anchor airport for domestic routes was AP II's focus on return flows because it would receive homecoming arrivals from various cities.

"On the return flow, AP II's focus is to ensure the arrival process at Soekarno-Hatta Airport runs smoothly. Collaboration with airlines must be further enhanced regarding operations and flight schedules, and it is also necessary to anticipate the process of unloading or unloading passenger baggage from the plane to the terminal carried out by ground handling. AP II wants the process of sending baggage from the plane to the baggage claim area to be fast, precise and safe. We will support airlines and ground handling so that this process can be optimized and maximized.”

"Another important point is related to the readiness of land transportation to take passengers to their respective homes. We coordinate with taxi, bus, travel transport operators and so on to ensure the readiness of the fleet so that passengers don't have to wait too long at the terminal. We also suggest that passengers can use the airport train, where getting to the station is very easy because they can use the Skytrain, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin conveyed that picking up airplane passengers was also a focus where the process had to run smoothly so that there were no passengers in the pick-up area with private vehicles.

In the return flow, AP II also utilizes the Airport Operation Command Center (AOCC) to ensure the return flight runs smoothly, then the Airport Infrastructure Control Center (AICC) to ensure the reliability of all facilities, and the Land Transportation Operation Center (LTOC) to ensure the readiness of the transportation fleet. land such as taxis and buses for passengers.

"AP II wants to ensure the speed, accuracy and convenience of services on Eid transportation in 2022 in bringing homecomers to meet out at their hometowns, then welcome back travelers to return home," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
