Aviation Traffic at AP II Airport Starts to Increase Since D-10 Lebaran

Passenger movements on April 22, 2022 (H-10) were 14% higher than the daily average of March 2022

Jakarta - The movement of passengers at PT Angkasa Pura II airports began to increase in the 2022 Lebaran Transportation period.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi during an inspection at Soekarno-Hatta Airport today, Sunday 24 April 2022, said that people followed the government's recommendation to go home early.

"Previously, aircraft movements at Soekarno Hatta Airport were around 600 aircraft movements per day. But these two days it has increased to 900 moves per day. Airplane seat occupancy is approaching 100 percent. This means that the recommendation to go home early has been carried out," explained the Minister of Transportation, who today also inaugurated the operation of the 2022 Lebaran Transport Command Post at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

In the same place, AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the increase in passenger movements had occurred since April 22, 2022 or D-10 Lebaran.

"On D-10 Lebaran or April 22, 2022, the number of passenger movements at 20 AP II airports cumulatively reached around 160,000 passengers, and of that number, 110,000 passengers were moved at Soekarno-Hatta Airport," Muhammad Awaluddin explained.

The movement of passengers on April 22, which reached 160,000 passengers, was 14% higher than the daily average of passenger movements in March 2022 which was around 140,000 passengers/day.

Muhammad Awaluddin said the peak flow of homecoming at AP II airports was estimated on April 30 with a total movement of 180,000 passengers, of which 120,000 passengers were at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

AP II currently manages 20 airports, namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Kualanamu (Medan), Supadio (Pontianak), Minangkabau (Padang), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru), Husein Sastranegara (Bandung), Sultan Iskandar Muda (Banda Aceh), Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjungpinang), Sultan Thaha (Jambi), Depati Amir (Pangkal Pinang), Silangit (North Tapanuli), Kertajati (Majalengka) , Banyuwangi (Banyuwangi), Tjilik Riwut (Palangkaraya), Radin Inten II (Lampung), H.A.S Hanandjoeddin (Tanjung Pandan), Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu), and General Besar Soedirman (Purbalingga).

In line with the increase in flight traffic, AP II and stakeholders ensure the readiness of all resources to maintain high standards in security, safety and service as well as compliance with regulations, including those related to health protocols.

"AP II also always urges people to go home early so that flight departures can be well distributed, or not concentrated at certain times," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

AirNav Indonesia President Director Polana B. Pramesti said aircraft movements at Soekarno-Hatta Airport were approaching normal where in the 2022 Angleb period it had reached around 900/day, while normal conditions before the pandemic were around 1,100 - 1,200/day.

The Commander of the Air Task Force for Handling COVID-19, Colonel of the Indonesian Air Force, Agus Listiono, said travelers by plane must pay attention to health requirements or protocols that must be met before flying, both for domestic routes and overseas routes.
