Soekarno-Hatta Airport Service Appreciated


Jakarta- The Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia international event which was held at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, NTB, on March 18-20, 2022 was a success.

The event became a magnet for the national tourism sector, as seen from the significant increase in flight traffic to Lombok.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said flight traffic on the Jakarta - Lombok - Jakarta route increased by 155% when the two-wheeled race took place.

On March 17 - 20 (Thursday - Sunday) or when the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia took place, the number of passenger movements from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Lombok International Airport and vice versa reached up to 25,017 people or skyrocketed 155% compared to Thursday - Sunday the previous week. namely March 10 - 13 which as many as 9,790 people.

The number of aircraft movements jumped dramatically from the previous 68 flights to 215 flights. In the same period, namely March 17 - 20 2022, aircraft movements on the Jakarta - Bali - Jakarta route were recorded at 322 flights.

"Flight traffic from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which is the largest airport in Indonesia to Lombok Airport, experienced a significant increase on March 17 - 20 2022. The Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, with its main class MotoGP, has become a tourist magnet and has also stimulated the aviation sector."

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport is able to accommodate the high demand for flights to and from Lombok Airport, with the main focus being to continue to implement health protocols according to regulations that are strengthened by Biosafety Management and Biosecurity Management," Muhammad Awaluddin explained.

As is known, Soekarno-Hatta Airport is an anchor airport on domestic routes, where this airport is also a transit point for travelers to continue their journey to other cities, including Lombok.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Executive General Manager Agus Haryadi said coordination was carried out with all stakeholders so that flights could run smoothly and support the event at the Mandalika Circuit.

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport has a central role. This airport is the first location for most of the drivers and team officials to arrive in Indonesia, then depart for Lombok. Then after the event in Mandalika is over, Soekarno-Hatta Airport will release their flights abroad," said Agus Haryadi.

He added, "AP II is grateful for the collaboration of all parties including regulators, airlines, AirNav Indonesia and ground handling so that high flight traffic can be served properly. The aspects of security, service and implementation of health protocols are our concerns."

On March 13-15 2022, Soekarno-Hatta Airport welcomes the arrival of drivers and team officials from abroad. The service of the airport staff when welcoming the arrival of the group of racers and teams received praise.

One of the figures in the two-wheeled racing event, Michael Hill, who is famous as a presenter and interviewer in the paddock, appreciated the services at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. On his twitter account, he said Soekarno-Hatta Airport has very good staff so as to provide an efficient experience in traveling.
“Must say 10/10 for the staff at Jakarta Airport. 15 minutes off the plane and I was already in the luggage belt (luggage collection area). Super efficient," he said.

Then on March 16, 2022, Soekarno-Hatta Airport released the flight of drivers and official teams to Lombok.

Then on March 20, 2022, the drivers and team officials departed overseas from Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport after participating in the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.

President Director of the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation Abdulbar M. Mansoer said that Dorna as the holder of the commercial rights of MotoGP appreciated the services provided by the staff at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"Dorna said the officers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport were very friendly. In addition, Dorna also appreciates the existence of a PCR test area dedicated to racers and team officials," said Abdulbar M. Mansoer

Good coordination among Soekarno-Hatta Airport stakeholders related to various matters, especially flight operations and service aspects, has successfully supported the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia event.
