AP II Seriously Implements Eco-green Airport, Electric Motorcycle Now Paving in Soekarno-Hatta Airport Area

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II is committed to realizing an environmentally friendly airport by implementing the eco-green airport concept in all airports managed by the company.

AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the company already has a master plan (masterplan) for implementing the eco-green airport concept to ensure a balance between airport operational activities and sustainability.

"We believe that airport operations can and must be in line with sustainability principles in order to create an environmentally friendly airport. Reducing carbon gas emissions in the airport environment is one of AP II's focuses," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

The reduction in carbon gas emissions at AP II airport is expected to support the government's program in reducing carbon emissions by 29% in Indonesia by 2030 and is also in line with the Global Net Zero Carbon Emission 2050 program from Airport Council International (ACI).

One of the programs in reducing carbon gas emissions at AP II airport is through the use of various electricity-based transportation.

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which is the busiest and largest airport in Indonesia, we have set as a pilot project location for the development of an electricity-based transportation ecosystem, before a similar ecosystem is developed at other AP II airports," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

In line with the development of the electric transportation mode ecosystem, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has supported the use of electric vehicles, including electric taxis, electric buses, golf cars in the passenger terminal, electric bicycles (e-bikes) for inside the terminals and segways.

The operation of electric vehicles is of course also followed by the development of supporting infrastructure at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, such as the SPKLU (General Electric Vehicle Charging Station).

At the beginning of this year, Soekarno-Hatta Airport again strengthened the electric vehicle ecosystem by providing electric-based light tricycles (eMopeds).

EGM of Adjacent Business AP II Yado Yarismano said the eMoped prepared by Voy is based on sharing and can be used by the public.

"eMoped, which is a new means of transportation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, is based on sharing, where anyone can use it interchangeably by the public," explained Yado Yarismano.

The use of eMoped is also in line with the implementation of smart airports at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“The operation itself is supported through the application, from activation to monitoring usage. This sharing-based transportation tool with information technology supports the implementation of smart airports at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, "said Yado Yarismano.

Yado Yarismano added that currently eMoped stations have been designated at Soekarno-Hatta Airport as the starting and ending points for eMoped use, namely in the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area, office area and Cargo Terminal, in the near future it will be opened in Terminal 3.

"The existence of eMoped is primarily focused on helping the mobility of workers or communities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, so we have established three eMoped routes, namely the TOD area - offices - Cargo Terminal. Some workers come to the airport via TOD which is in the area behind the airport, to then head to the office area, Cargo Terminal and Terminal 3. Now, they can use e-mopeds which also support physical distancing in the midst of this pandemic."

"This eMoped can also be used by the general public who want to try using electric vehicles in the airport area," explained Yado Yarismano.

The distance between stations using an e-moped ranges from 3-5 kilometers with a travel time of about 15 minutes from one station to another.

AP II ensures that eMoped users at Soekarno-Hatta Airport must also meet the requirements, including wearing a helmet and having SIM C. Meanwhile, the maximum speed of this eMoped is 25 km/hour.

"Through this eMoped, we hope that the use of conventional motorized vehicles in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area can be reduced," said Yado Yarismano.
