Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport was designated as one of the busiest airports in the world in January 2022 by the Official Airline Guide (OAG), a UK-based global aviation information provider.

OAG released a list of the busiest airports in the world based on flight seat capacity, where in January 2022 Soekarno-Hatta Airport was recorded at 10th place on the list with a capacity of 2.82 million flight seats (total domestic and international).

Even OAG said that in January 2022, Soekarno-Hatta Airport's ranking was better than the period before the pandemic, namely in January 2019 at 15th.

"Jakarta is in 10th position, better than before the pandemic, which was 15th in 2019," wrote OAG on its official website.

OAG stated that the large domestic market made Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the list of the 10 busiest airports in the world in January 2022.

The Jakarta - Denpasar and Jakarta - Makassar flight routes are also included in the list of the 10 busiest domestic routes in the world in January 2022 based on flight seat capacity.

Other airports that have a large domestic market on this list are airports in Dallas and Denver (United States), as well as airports in Delhi (India). Meanwhile, Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, USA, is ranked 1st with a total capacity of 4.39 million flight seats.

"Every day, around 95% of airplane passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport are passengers on domestic routes. International flights are still limited. This indicates that Soekarno-Hatta Airport as an anchor airport for domestic flights can maintain air connectivity in Indonesia in the midst of the pandemic," said Agus Haryadi.

Airport Council International (ACI) has awarded the Airport Health Accreditation certificate for two consecutive years, with the first certificate being awarded in November 2020 and the second certificate being awarded in November 2021.

Meanwhile, the Safe Travel Barometer in November 2021 gave a Safe Travel Score of 4.3 or the highest in ASEAN (similar to that achieved by Changi Airport), and seventh in Asia Pacific in line with the assessment on aspects of Travel Experience, Travel Convenience and COVID-19 Safety Protocols.
