AP II Prepares Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Improve Services in Welcoming the Return of Indonesian Migrant Workers
Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin on December 24, 2021 conducted a visit to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
The Minister of Transportation and the Minister of Health, who were also accompanied by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, and the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin, saw firsthand the process of the arrival of the new foreign travellers (PPLN). landed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
The inspection was carried out at Terminal 3 at around 14.30 WIB, especially in the international arrival area, including the COVID-19 vaccination center for airplane passengers.
After conducting a review, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi requested that the return of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) from abroad be concentrated in Terminal 2F to ease the operation of Terminal 3.
“There are around 3,000 - 4,000 international arrivals per day at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (all international passenger arrivals including PMI). We have asked AP II to activate Terminal 2F, I hope PMI will concentrate there. So, there is not a lot of concentration in Terminal 3. So that it can be done immediately and systematically, so that PMI can get good and fast service, "said the Minister of Transportation.
The Minister of Transportation said that Damri had also been assigned to operate more fleets to take Indonesian citizens from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to quarantine locations (Wisma Athletes, Pasar Rumput Flats or Wisma Nagrak).
In the same place, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that an evaluation had been carried out and a number of inputs were given so that the international passenger arrival process would be even better in the future.
"In the future to be better, of course there are several steps which then utilize information technology and synergize between existing officers to ensure that all stages (international arrivals at Soekarno-Hatta Airport) starting from entry to heading to the hotel (quarantine location) all run," explained the Chief of Police.
The National Police Chief asked all officers to carry out and supervise the inspection and quarantine process.
On this occasion, at Terminal 3, the National Police Chief also held a video conference with personnel at the National Border Post (PLBN) to ensure that international arrival procedures in the midst of a pandemic went well.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that currently the queue for departure of Indonesian citizens from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to go to the quarantine location (Wisma Athlete, Rusun Pasar Rumput or Wisma Nagrak) was faster.
"We have checked, thanks to the TNI and Polri, we make sure the queue (from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to the quarantine location) is faster and not crowded," explained the Minister of Health.
Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. Suharyanto said, "The bus fleet that transports PMIs and international travelers has been added and application technology is also being developed, in the future this will simplify the flow of the quarantine process," he said.
Terminal 2F Readiness
President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said Soekarno-Hatta Airport would prepare Terminal 2F to concentrate on serving PMI's return from abroad.
"According to the direction of the Minister of Transportation, we will prepare Terminal 2F to welcome PMI's return, which can also relieve Terminal 3. Thus, health protocols and the international arrival process can be carried out properly."
"In line with this, service standards for PMI and all airplane passengers can also be increased," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Muhammad Awaluddin said that starting this month, Terminal 2F has also been opened to serve the arrival of Malindo Air flights on the Kuala Lumpur - Jakarta route.
"In general, Terminal 2F is ready to concentrate on serving PMI's return to the country."
"Facilities at Terminal 2F to receive international arrivals are ready, including holding bays, check points for validation of health documents by KKP personnel from the Ministry of Health, then booths for PCR tests, immigration and Customs and Excise facilities, as well as transportation to get to the location. quarantine," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
