Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) expressed condolences for the disaster from the eruption of Mount Semeru in East Java.

To help the affected residents, AP II sent a team of emergency response volunteers who departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang) and Banyuwangi Airport (Banyuwangi Regency).

The team consisted of 13 people who departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport and 8 people from Banyuwangi Airport, where they were part of the Gunung Rimba Laut Team (GuRiLa) formed by AP II employees to be ready to assist in disaster emergency response conditions anywhere.

The team that was dispatched were employees who served as doctors, Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARRF), and Airport Security.

President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said the GuRiLa team from Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Banyuwangi Airport departed on Sunday night, December 5, 2021, for Lumajang.

"AP II conveys its condolences for the disaster from the eruption of Mount Semeru, hopefully the residents will be given strength and patience. SOEs moved quickly, including AP II, to try to provide assistance to residents affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru. This is in line with the direction of the Minister of SOEs, for SOEs to move and ensure they are present to help residents. After we heard the news of the eruption of Mount Semeru, preparations were immediately made and the team departed for Lumajang in the evening.”

"The presence of the GuRiLa AP II team to provide evacuation assistance, medical assistance, and distribute the necessary assistance according to the mapping of needs in the field, which is also a form of Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL)," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

SM of Planning and distribution Community Development Center AP II Agust Lubisk said the team in the field had coordinated with relevant ministries/agencies to ensure the assistance provided was right on target.

“On arrival in Lumajang, we collaborated with other SOEs, the TNI and Polri, as well as the Ministry of Social Affairs to ensure that the assistance provided was optimal. The assistance that we distributed included emergency response equipment, medicines and vitamins, cooking utensils, food and drinks, masks and various other equipment, with a total initial aid value of IDR 50 million, "explained Agus Lubisk.

In addition, the distribution of aid will be carried out again in accordance with the results of the mapping of needs in the field.

Furthermore, Agust Lubisk said that the GuRiLa AP II team, together with the BUMN Peduli team, had carried out trauma healing activities for children in disaster locations, precisely at the Candipuro Sub-district Command Post. In addition, the GuRiLa AP II team is also involved in operating a soup kitchen to prepare food for refugees and volunteers, as well as carry out evacuations and provide medical assistance.
