Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) has prepared a facial recognition system with biometric technology for airplane passengers to process departures at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
The face recognition system in the early stages will be available at Security Check Point 2 (SCP 2) Terminal 3 Domestic Departures of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. SCP 2 is a security check point before passengers go to the boarding lounge to wait to board the plane.
President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said the facial recognition system for airplane passengers is part of the implementation of digital transformation that has been carried out by AP II since 2016.
"The use of facial recognition, which is being prepared, is one of AP II's programs to massively digitize services, security, and airport operations."
"Through digitization, airplane passengers at AP II airport can experience a new experience which we call New Experience through (X) Technology Airport 4.0 or NEXT Airport 4.0. The goal is to improve the national airport sector to a higher level than now and in line with global best practice," said Muhammad Awaluddin, President Director of AP II.
This face recognition system will make it easier for passengers because they no longer have to show physical documents for inspection at SCP 2.
"In addition to enhancing the digitalization experience at AP II airports, prospective airplane passengers can also experience a seamless journey experience," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
The application of the face recognition system to process flight departures at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is currently in the trial phase.
This face recognition service is also in the verification process by the Directorate of Aviation Security of the Ministry of Transportation to ensure this process meets the aviation security aspect.
AP II Airport Digital Business Project Chief Wahyu Cahyadi said the application of the face recognition system was supported by the AP II travelin application.
“Prospective passengers can download the travelin application via Android or iOS. Then enter the travelinPass menu and register your personal data, which will also be validated by Dukcapil. After that, prospective passengers will get a travelinPass which is also validated by the PeduliLindung application. In the travelin application, prospective passengers also register for AirportID, then select Create myTrip. All data that has been validated will be sent to the autogate system for facial recognition at SCP 2 Terminal 3 for Domestic Departures," said Wahyu Cahyadi.
"At the autogate door, prospective passengers perform facial recognition. The opening of the autogate door will be based on a number of aspects, the main ones are facial recognition, validated travelinPass, body temperature below 37.5 degrees Celsius, and prospective passengers having validated travel documents. If someone uses someone else's travelinPass account, the autogate door will also not open, because later it will not synchronize with facial recognition," explained Wahyu Cahyadi.
It is targeted that the facial recognition system will be fully implemented at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in January 2022 and gradually later at other airports managed by AP II.
