17 Oct 2021

For the period 19 September - 16 October 2021, as many as 56,085 passengers from abroad have been quarantined after landing at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

Jakarta - The COVID-19 pandemic has not ended and now new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been identified, such as the Mu and Lambda variants in several countries.

In an effort to prevent imported cases and keep the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia under control, airplane passengers from abroad must undergo health protocols.

In accordance with the Circular Letter of the Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Number 14/2021 and the Circular Letter of the Minister of Transportation Number 85/2021, one of the health protocols is to undergo a centralized quarantine for 5x24 hours after passengers complete the arrival process at the airport.

In line with that, stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta Airport coordinate to prepare the necessary facilities for the process of departing passengers to quarantine accommodation places.

The Commander of the Air Task Force for COVID-19 Handling Colonel Tek Sunu Eko P. said quarantine was an important health protocol that passengers from abroad had to follow.

He said airplane passengers from abroad must also undergo a complete dose of vaccination, undergo an RT-PCR test whose samples were taken 3x24 before departure to Indonesia, then return to the PCR test upon arrival, then undergo a 5x24 hour quarantine and undergo a PCR test on the 4th day of quarantine. .

"Quarantine is carried out to find out and monitor the health status of airplane passengers who have traveled from abroad. This 5x24 hour centralized quarantine can also anticipate and dispel imported cases to Indonesia, so that the COVID-19 pandemic in the country can be kept under control.”

"We ask passengers from overseas to comply with and carry out these quarantine provisions properly, in order to maintain the health of all of us. It should be understood that this health protocol does not aim to make it difficult for international travellers, but as an effort to anticipate and prevent the spread of COVID-19," said Colonel Tek Sunu Eko P.

For airplane passengers from abroad who land at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the quarantine accommodation is set at Wisma Atlet Pademangan and hotels that receive recommendations from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force that have met the terms and conditions of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association for cleanliness, health. , security and environmental sustainability, and the Ministry in charge of health affairs for the Jakarta and surrounding areas.

According to the Minister of Transportation's SE Number 85/2021 and the Decree of the Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Number 14/2021, Wisma Pademangan was declared a quarantine place for Indonesian citizens whose services include lodging, meals, transportation and RT-PCR.

The Indonesian citizens who can quarantine at Wisma Pademangan are those who meet the following criteria:
- Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI)
- Students who return to Indonesia after attending education or carrying out study assignments abroad
- Government employees who return to Indonesia after carrying out official trips abroad

Meanwhile, airplane passengers from abroad who land at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and are Indonesian citizens outside the 3 criteria, as well as foreigners, can undergo quarantine at 63 hotels that are referred to as quarantine accommodation places.

As for the period 19 September - 16 October 2021, passengers from abroad who arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport were 56,085 people, the majority of whom were PMIs.

Of that number, 29,270 passengers were quarantined at the Wisma Atlet, and 26,815 passengers were quarantined at the hotel.

In line with the provisions in the SE Menhub Number 85/2021, as many as 56,085 passengers from abroad have also undergone RT-PCR tests upon arrival at the airport.
