Harhubnas 2021, AP II Moves Forward and Dare to Change Modernizes Air Transportation to Strengthen the National Transportation System

17 Sep 2021

AP II launches 4 main programs to support the air transportation system

Jakarta - Commemoration of National Transportation Day (Harhubnas) on September 17, 2021 takes the theme Move to Harmonize Indonesia to invite all elements in the transportation sector to move forward and dare to change in order to bring harmony to the nation and state.

Transportation itself has a very important role as the lifeblood of the economy. If transportation is disrupted, then the economy is disrupted.

The Ministry of Transportation has established a national transportation system (Sistranas), which is a systemically organized transportation system consisting of road transportation, rail transportation, river and lake transportation, crossing transportation, sea transportation, air transportation, and pipeline transportation.

The order has facilities and infrastructure that interact with each other with various supports for the mobility of people and/or goods.

The target of Sistranas is effective and efficient transportation.

In the air transportation sector, in order to support Sistranas, the Ministry of Transportation has strengthened the service network (flight routes and air transportation) and infrastructure network (airport).

In line with this, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) which currently manages 20 main airports in Indonesia is part of the national transportation system, especially in the Sistranas infrastructure network for the Air Transportation Sector.

President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said the company is committed to always strengthening Sistranas.

“AP II seeks to strengthen Sistranas through modernizing three aspects, namely infrastructure which is likened to hardware, then information technology systems as software, and then human resource development as brainware. In addition, we also focus on sustainability or being environmentally friendly.”

"AP II hopes to always increase its contribution to participate in Moving Harmonize Indonesia, making the best contribution to the progress of Indonesia's transportation, as conveyed by the Minister of Transportation at Harhubnas 2021," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Muhammad Awaluddin said that at the moment of Harhubnas 2021, AP II is committed to moving forward and daring to change to modernize air transportation and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, through 4 programs, namely:

1. Infrastructure
AP II focuses on developing Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Kualanamu Airport. Infrastructure development at the two airports is currently underway:
- Soekarno-Hatta Airport: Revitalization of Terminals 1 and 2 at the airport to increase their respective capacities to 18 million passengers/year as well as the construction of integrated buildings as centers of economic activity. AP II also has plans to build Terminal 4 with a capacity of 40-45 million passengers/year, which is equipped with state of the art technology facilities.

- Kualanamu Airport (Deli Serdang): AP II has plans to build various facilities to make this airport an engine of economic growth in North Sumatra. A number of these facilities are Airport City (hotels, theme parks, hospitals, etc.), integrated commercial areas and e-commerce warehousing.

2. Development of information technology systems
AP II is carrying out digital transformation by introducing the concept of New Experience through (X) Technology Airport 4.0 or called NEXT Airport 4.0. As the backbone of NEXT Airport 4.0, AP II introduces three mobile platforms, namely the travelin application for services to passengers (customer experience/CX), and the iPerform application for operations (operational excellent/OX). In the near future, Pocket Airport Collaborative Decision Making (ACDM) will be launched as an application for collaboration between airport stakeholders (ecosystem exploration/EX).

3. Capacity building of human resources
AP II is very focused on increasing the capacity of human resources in the field of air transportation, one of its implementations is establishing the first Airport Learning Center in Indonesia to form human resources who are Digital Savvy and Tech Savvy.
In addition, AP II's talents annually also study at various global institutions such as Airport Council International (ACI) and so on.
The pandemic also does not hinder the development of human resource capacity, because AP II already has virtual training facilities.

4. Sustainability
AP II is currently developing an environmentally friendly airport for transportation that is more sustainable and environmentally friendly, as ordered by the Minister of Transportation at Harhubnas 2021.

"Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport has received a global standard ISO 50001: 2018 energy management system certificate. We have also implemented the use of PLTS in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
