Soekarno-Hatta Airport Provides Flying Ambulance for Fast Medical Transportation

Whitesky Aviation operates helimedevac at Cengkareng Heliport

Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport has expanded its facilities and services to accommodate various flights and community needs.

Starting this month, Soekarno-Hatta Airport introduced a new service, namely flights for medical evacuation (medevac) using ambulance helicopters operated by Whitesky Aviation.

This medevac flight is carried out at Cengkareng Heliport, which is within the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area and is connected to a hospital in Greater Jakarta.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin said this medevac service aims to help parties who need medical treatment quickly.

"The spirit of this medevac is to provide very fast medical transportation which is carried out by helicopter flight, so that patients can quickly get more complete treatment at hospitals in Jabodetabek."

"This Medevac is one of Soekarno-Hatta Airport's efforts to complete flight facilities and services to accommodate diverse needs. We hope that this medevac can be useful, especially regarding the medical aspect," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

This Medevac service is open to the public, and can also be used by airplane passengers who land at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and require prompt medical treatment at the hospital.

Medevac at Cengkareng Heliport can also be used to transfer patients from one hospital to another in order to receive special treatment.

Whitesky Aviation CEO Denon Prawiraatmadja said the helicopter fleet used in the helimedevac service consisted of 2 types.

“The first is the Bell 505 type and the second is the Bell 429 type, these two helicopters are also equipped with a medical team and equipment as needed to ensure the best treatment while the patient is transported to the hospital. Then is the Heliport Emergency Unit, which is a facility in the heliport intended for temporary handling of patient emergency conditions, before being taken by helicopter to the hospital, "said Denon Prawiraatmadja.

Denon Prawiraatmadja added that this medevac service was strengthened by professional paramedics.

“Medevac from Cengkareng Heliport is strengthened by a team of paramedics who are able to carry out medical treatment for patients on helicopters, to ensure patients receive proper treatment during flights to hospitals.

Meanwhile, Cengkareng Heliport also prepares an ambulance if according to the paramedic's policy, the patient can travel overland to go to the hospital.
