Jakarta - The implementation of the smart airport concept is considered appropriate to encourage the growth of the aviation and tourism sector, including encouraging recovery (rebound) after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the Indonesia Smart Airport Forum (ISAF 2021) webinar, the speakers expressed their views on the definition of a smart airport and its implementation so that it becomes the key to the revival of aviation and tourism. 1. Smart airports give birth to technology-based innovations
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said innovations made in the aviation sector through the development of digital technology could support efforts to recover the economy and tourism in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Through this forum [ISAF 2021], it is hoped that new innovations can be produced both in terms of business and digitalization technology. Which can be developed and synergized with all stakeholders in the transportation and tourism sector in Indonesia," explained the Minister of Transportation.

2. Smart airport is an airport that prioritizes technology and collaboration
PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said smart airports are airports that use technology as a key, prioritize automation, operate efficiently, and get great results with cost-effective operational costs.

Head of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) Hammam Riza said that smart airports are airports that utilize technology including artificial intelligence to increase operator income, provide improved services and travel experiences for passengers, and realize green initiatives through new and renewable energy (EBT). , and operate more efficiently.
