Jakarta - For the first time in Indonesia, tourism cluster SOEs and supporters launched the Indonesia Aviaton & Tourism Research Institute (IATRI) and the Indonesia Aviation & Tourism Learning Institute (IATLI) today, Friday 28 May 2021.

The two institutes were established as centers of study and training of knowledge and competence (Centre of Excellence/CoE) for employees in 9 BUMN clusters in the tourism and supporting sectors.

The SOEs are PT Angkasa Pura II, PT Air Penas Survey, PT Angkasa Pura I, PT Garuda Indonesia, PT Indonesia Tourism Development, PT Hotel Indonesia Natour, PT Sarinah, Perum LPPNPI (AirNav Indonesia), and PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan. and Queen Boko.

Secretary of the Ministry of SOEs, Susyanto, said the existence of IATRI and IATLI to support increasing Indonesia's competitiveness, Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045 and the 2020-2024 National Mid-Term Plan.

"The short-term goal is to generate tourism as a source of foreign exchange, which is currently being affected by the pandemic. IATRI and IATLI will create archipelago-specific hospitality to encourage Indonesian tourism, and even become the strength of the Indonesian nation," said Susianto.

Muhammad Awaluddin, President Director of AP II as well as Chair of the BUMN Coordinator for the Center of Excellence for Tourism and Support Clusters, said that the establishment of the two institutes was guided by the Circular of the Minister of BUMN No. SE-1/MBU/02/2021 as the basis for implementing the Transformation of the Functions of the Learning Center/Corporate University, Research Center, and Innovation Center of BUMN.

"The transformation in the Learning, Research, and Innovation Center is to achieve the 5 priorities set by the Ministry of SOEs, namely Economic and Social Values, Business Model Innovation, Technology Leadership, Increased Investment and Talent Development," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Meanwhile, AP II was appointed to be the coordinator for IATRI, while Garuda Indonesia was the coordinator for IATLI.

"IATRI and IATLI will form world class leaders & talents, world class management practices, world class digital capabilities, and world class technology & innovation capabilities, which will bring Indonesia's tourism sector to excel in the global arena," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Muhammad Awaluddin added that Learning, Research & Innovation [Learning, Research & Innovation/LRI] is the priority foundation of the Ministry of SOEs to increase Indonesia's competitiveness in the global arena. In line with that, the establishment of IATRI and IATLI is expected to increase Indonesia's competitive rank in terms of innovation, expertise, market, workforce and so on.

IATRI itself will carry out the functions of bridging (bridging), connecting (connecting) and accelerating (spurring) between the field of research and operations in the field. This is done through three programs namely:

- Innovate, to find out what initiatives can be developed in the tourism and supporting sectors
- Develop, to implement initiatives from concept to tourism and supporting ecosystems
- Commercialize, to expand the scale of implementation of the initiative to the market

Meanwhile, IATLI will build the competence and capability of human resources through the establishment of 4 schools, namely:

- Aviation School
- Hospitality School
- Airport Personnel Operation School
- Tourism Business School

Muhammad Awaluddin said all IATRI and IATLI activities would be integrated and support each other by also applying the pentahelic concept.

“Through pentahelic, it is hoped that the program can increase efficiency and effectiveness by involving 5 sectors, namely Business Actors, Community, Government, Media, and Academics. IATRI and IATLI will also implement collaboration and cooperation with various industrial sectors for program efficiency and effectiveness based on student based, program based, research based and sponsorship based, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

AP II already has adequate infrastructure and facilities to run IATRI, namely the Airport Learning Center building which is located in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area with facilities in the form of 10 classrooms with modern technology, auditorium, amphitheater, e-libray, simulation room, VIP lounge and dining. hall.
