Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) and the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) signed a Cooperation Agreement on the prevention of terrorism and radicalism.
The signing of the collaboration between AP II and BNPT was carried out on April 15, 2021, also attended by President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin and Chairman of the BNPT Komjen Pol Boy Rafli Amar along with Deputy for Prevention, Protection and Deradicalization of BNPT Hendri Paruhuman Lubis and Deputy for Enforcement and Capacity Building BNPT Budiono Sandi.
AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the company is the manager of 20 airports which are vital objects and the main entrance to the country so it is very important for personnel to always hone their skills in understanding the potential threats of terrorism and radicalism, including efforts to prevent them.
“Security has always been the focus of AP II, where we enforce security through internal and external approaches. This collaboration is a concrete step of collaboration between AP II and BNPT in preventing and overcoming terrorism and radicalism. The airport must be the biggest from the potential threat of terrorism, ”said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Muhammad Awaluddin added, "Through cooperation with BNPT, the prevention and countermeasures of terrorism and radicalism within AP II including the 20 airports managed by the company will be stronger. We are grateful and grateful for BNPT's full support to AP II in preventing terrorism and radicalism. "
Through this collaboration, BNPT will assist AP II in improving security aspects at the airport to make it more reliable. In addition, AP II and BNPT will also prepare internal guidelines.
Furthermore, BNPT will also provide education and training for AP II employees to increase preparedness in preventing radicalism and acts of terror.
"Education and training materials focus on national preparedness and counter-radicalization, to increase AP II's contribution in joint efforts to prevent terrorism and radicalism," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
As part of the collaboration, BNPT can also conduct background checks on prospective new employees who wish to work at AP II.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the BNPT Boy Rafli Amar said assistance was immediately carried out for AP II in the framework of fostering human resources and drafting the necessary guidelines to mitigate the threat of terrorism.

Boy Rafli Amar added that AP II is the manager of an airport which is a vital object so that acts of terrorism must be prevented and dispelled throughout the company.
Currently, AP II airports are equipped with a number of security facilities to prevent and tackle acts of terrorism. These facilities include CCTV with analytics capabilities, level 5 baggage handling systems such as at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport which is capable of detecting explosives, and the first explosive containment with advanced technology in Indonesia called Nakula.
