To support the activities and daily life of people with disabilities, AP II distributes more than 1,000 free prosthetic legs

AP II runs the Environmental Social Responsibility program to support the community in the midst of a pandemic


Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), the manager of 20 airports in Indonesia, this year is again running a program of providing free prosthetic limbs for persons with disabilities.

In collaboration with the Kick Andy Foundation, this year as many as 360 prosthetic limbs will be distributed in 15 provinces where there are airports managed by AP II, namely: North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, West Java, East Java, Central Kalimantan, Lampung, Bangka. Belitung, Bengkulu, Banten, Aceh, Palembang, Jambi, Tanjung Pinang and West Kalimantan.

PT Angkasa Pura II Director of Finance Wiweko Probojakti said the spirit of this free prosthetic leg program was to support the activities of persons with disabilities so that they could carry out their daily activities properly.

“Every year we are committed to distributing prosthetic limbs, and we are very grateful that this year the program will continue for many years to come. We hope that this prosthetic leg assistance can support the activities of beneficiaries, both children and adults, "said Wiweko Probojakti, who is usually called Dodit.

Dodit added, "The program of giving free prosthetic limbs has been launched by AP II since 2017, in which in the 2017-2021 period, the amount distributed is planned to reach more than 1,000 prosthetic limbs or to be precise 1,212 prosthetic limbs."

This year, the distribution of prosthetic limbs that has been realized is as many as 40 prosthetic limbs for beneficiaries in Aceh on April 5, 2021, and 20 prosthetic limbs in Jambi. All prosthetic limbs that are distributed as aid are domestic products of proven quality and of excellent quality.

In Aceh, AP II also distributed 8 units of laptops for learning activities, then 8 units of cerebral palsy wheelchairs, and 1 unit of livable housing for beneficiaries.

Apart from prosthetic limbs, AP II together with the Kick Andy Foundation also distributed assistance in the form of free glasses for beneficiaries in 15 provinces. In total, 1,200 glasses were distributed.

"Assistance with artificial limbs and glasses for persons with disabilities and people with visual impairments in school children is AP II's commitment to helping the community and supporting government programs in Sustainable Development Goals [SDG's]," said Dodit.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, AP II also has a program to support the community in facing this difficult period.

The program is the Environmental Social Responsibility Program (TJSL), among others, to provide capital loans for micro and community businesses, as well as assistance for infrastructure and facilities covering 7 sectors: religious facilities, poverty alleviation, training and educational facilities, natural disasters, health, conservation of nature and public facilities.

The TJSL Program which has just been realized this year is the construction of mosques in the Faculty of Engineering, Gadjah Mada University and Jenderal Soedirman University, as well as lending to 94 MSMEs worth IDR 3.7 billion in 8 branch offices.
