Two airports are using GeNose C19 for COVID-19 testing for travelers starting April 1, 2021
Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is testing GeNose C19 for the COVID-19 test at two airports, namely Husein Sastranegara Airport (Bandung) and Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang).
The main objective of the trial is to ensure the readiness of human resources, facilities and implementation processes in implementing GeNose C19 as a COVID-19 test kit for prospective aircraft passengers.
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said the trial was running smoothly involving more than 100 airport workers every day.
"At the trial stage, GeNose C19 has not been used for a COVID-19 test for prospective aircraft passengers. Instead, we conducted simulations in the field by conducting tests for around 100 workers at the airport."
The GeNose 19 trial at Husein Sastranegara Airport (Bandung) was carried out from 22 to 26 March 2021, while at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang) starting on 26 to 28 March 2021.
From the trial, a number of inputs were found to prepare the use of the GeNose C19 for prospective aircraft passengers.
One of them is related to the flow of the GeNose C19 test, where each traveler will have to register and order tests on the Farmalab application, then enter the test area at the airport, take the queue number and go to the waiting room, carry out the test, then wait for the test results at the waiting room.
The series lasted about 10 minutes, from the first time downloading the Airport Health Center application until the test results came out.
Muhammad Awaluddin said that from this trial it was known that in general there were 3 processes that must be passed for everyone who took the GeNose C19 test, namely pre-process (downloading and signing up for the Airport Health Center application, email verification, filling out the profile in the application, ordering / booking tests and making payments), then on-process (verification & provision of breath bags, taking breath samples, scanning QR code data & breath bags, analyzing breath samples), and post-processing (test results come out in the application).
"The implementation of the GeNose C19 test at AP II airports is supported by applications so that the test can be administered more regularly and run smoothly. Every traveler who wants to take the GeNose C19 test must make an order / booking in advance through the application, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
As a precaution if airplane passengers do not have a smartphone, AP II will provide a help desk to perform services.
The implementation of the test is also to find out the best various procedures to apply, for example related to the handling of GeNose C19 medical waste as well as procedures for potential passengers with negative and positive results.
Implemented April 1, 2021
After the trial run smoothly and formulated a number of procedures, Husein Sastranegara Airport (Bandung) and Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Airport (Palembang) are ready to implement the GeNose C19 test for prospective travelers on April 1, 2021.
Based on the number of booths and engine capacity GeNose C19, at Husein Sastranegara Airport (Bandung) it can serve around 400 people / day for the GeNose C19 test, meanwhile at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang) around 700 people / day.
As for the Circular of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Number 12 of 2021 concerning Provisions for Domestic Travel During the COVID-19 Pandemic, it is stated: Air transport travelers must show a negative result of the RT-PCR test whose samples are taken within a maximum period of 3x24 hours before departure, or a negative result of a rapid antigen test whose sample is taken within a maximum period of 2x24 hours before departure, or a negative result of the GeNose C19 test at the airport before departure as a condition for travel requirements and filling out Indonesia's e-HAC.
"At the initial stage, the implementation of GeNose C19 on April 1, 2021 at Husein Sastranegara Airport Bandung and Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang. After that, it will be gradually implemented at other airports managed by the company, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Muhammad Awaluddin said, "In accordance with SE No. 12/2021, the GeNose C19 test is an alternative to the COVID-19 test, apart from the rapid antigen test and PCR test. We estimate, at this early stage, the number of aircraft passengers using the GeNose C19 test can reach around 10% to 15% of the total departing airplane passengers. "
The implementation and implementation of GeNose C19 at AP II airport will also comply with regulations from the Ministry of Transportation.
Competent business partners, such as Farmalab, will later operate the GeNose C19 test.
