The only one in Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has a special substation to ensure the reliability of the electricity network

Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport has developed into an integrated area and center of community economic activity

The largest and busiest airport in Indonesia is strengthened by a number of main infrastructures, namely 3 aircraft passenger terminals (Terminals 1, 2 and 3) which are equipped with 3 runways (runways 1, 2 and 3), then there are also commercial areas, office areas, and cargo warehousing areas. , hotels to modern electricity-based public transportation facilities, namely the Skytrain and airport trains.

Other infrastructure that is currently being built is an integrated building in which there is a vehicle parking building, commercial areas and offices. In addition, Soekarno-Hatta Airport will also add another passenger terminal, namely Terminal 4.

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that with the increasingly complete infrastructure and facilities, as well as various future infrastructure development plans, PT Angkasa Pura II considered it very important for Soekarno-Hatta Airport to have its own substation to ensure reliability and power supply.

"Electricity is one of the basic and most basic needs at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. In line with that, about 3 years ago we started construction of the substation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and this month, March 2021, the substation was operational. This substation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport has a voltage of 150 kilovolts (kV) and a capacity of 2x60 megavolt amperes (MVA) which is sufficient to support airport operations.

With this substation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, electricity from the PLN substation will be directly flowed to the substation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and then forwarded to the three main power systems (MPS) at the airport to support electricity throughout the airport area.

Before the substation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, electricity from the PLN substation was first flowed to the feeder Jakarta International Airport Cengkareng (JIAC) 1, 2, 3 and 4 which is outside the airport area, then then to 3 MPS at the airport.

Muhammad Awaluddin said that BUMN collaboration and synergy between AP II and PLN were very well established in supporting the electricity network at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"The collaboration between AP II and PLN has been going on for decades since Soekarno-Hatta Airport began operating in 1984. Forms of collaboration include the existence of JIAC 1, then continuing to JIAC 2, 3 and 4. Until now, PLN fully supports the electricity network in Indonesia. Soekarno-Hatta Airport, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

General Manager of PLN Banten Main Distribution Unit, Sandika Aflianto, said, "PLN and AP II are collaborating and synergizing to ensure that the electricity network at Soekarno-Hatta Airport as the main gateway for Indonesia remains reliable and optimal."

Meanwhile, Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Agus Haryadi, said that the substation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport will guarantee the reliability and supply of electricity.

"The existence of this substation also makes Soekarno-Hatta Airport the only airport in Indonesia that has a special substation," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Meanwhile, PT Angkasa Pura II has also implemented digitization in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport electricity network system.

The application of digitization is carried out through the SCADA system or supervisory control and data acquisition as a center for information and monitoring of all electrical system activities.

"Through this system, we can anticipate more quickly if there is a disturbance and carry out contingency steps for handling it," said Agus Haryadi.
