Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is preparing sophisticated service and security facilities at the airport it manages.
Today, Wednesday 30 December 2020, PT Angkasa Pura II signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Dukcapil) regarding the Utilization of Population Identification Numbers, Population Data and Electronic Identity Cards in the Scope of Services of PT Angkasa Pura II ( Persero).
The signing was carried out online by the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin and the Director General of Dukcapil Zudan Arif Fakrulloh.
Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian also witnessed the signing of this cooperation.
On this occasion, the Minister of Home Affairs said that the data held by the Directorate General of Dukcapil could be used to verify prospective aircraft passengers.
"Data in the Dukcapil can be used for verification of passenger candidates, and others," explained the Minister of Home Affairs.
The Minister of Home Affairs added that the data held by the Dukcapil Directorate General had specific features such as facial recognition and fingerprints.
"Specific features such as fingerprints and facial recognition will be able to identify [airplane passengers], so that there will be no double [data used by other people] actually because everyone has their own specifics, face and fingerprint," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
"This can be used by friends of air transport services, AP II in today's context," added the Minister of Home Affairs.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said data support for the validation process for the identity of prospective aircraft passengers allowed the company to develop biometric facial recognition technology to provide services at the airport.
"Later, we will develop a validation process using biometric facial recognition which is supported by a database from the Dukcapil Directorate General's system, so that passengers can go through the entire departure and arrival process at the airport with facial authentication," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
This facial recognition technology certainly makes service at PT Angkasa Pura II airport increase to the next level.
Prior to the implementation of this facial recognition service, in the early stages, data validation support from the Directorate General of Dukcapil could be used for the use of QR codes by prospective aircraft passengers.
"Through the support of the identity validation process based on Dukcapil data, we can implement a system at the airport to carry out the identity validation process using a QR Code to reduce manual identity checks and support toucless services at the airport."
The use of this QR Code will support the integration of other related service systems such as boarding passes, health documents, to tracing and tracking related to COVID-19.
As a pilot project, Muhammad Awaluddin said that QR Code and facial recognition technology could first be used at Banyuwangi Airport and Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which are the largest airports in Indonesia.
The collaboration with the Directorate General of Dukcapil is one of the company's commitments in digitizing strategic transformation that has been carried out since 2016.
