Health protocol according to the Aviation Business Restart and Recovery from ACI and ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force Recommendation
Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport has been named the first airport in Indonesia to receive Airport Health Accereditation (AHA) from the Airport Council International (ACI) for implementing health protocols in the prevention of COVID-19.
In the ASEAN region, only two airports have received accreditation from ACI, namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Changi Airport in Singapore.
ACI gave this accreditation after seeing the COVID-19 prevention health program and protocol at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in line with the Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines from ACI, as well as the ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART) Recommendation.
Topics evaluated by ACI include cleanliness and disinfection, physical distancing in possible areas, protection of staff, spatial layout, communication to aircraft passengers, and aircraft passenger facilities.
Evaluation is also carried out on the entire passenger area and its processes including terminal access, check-in areas, security checks, boarding gates, lounges, commercial, F&B, to equipment such as aerobics, escalators and elevators, immigration areas and their facilities, baggage claim areas and arrival exits. .
ACI World Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira in his letter to PT Angkasa Pura II congratulated Soekarno-Hatta Airport on the success of achieving AHA accreditation.
"After reviewing the evidence reported through our evaluation process, your airport [Soekarno-Hatta Airport] has shown that it has been able to provide a safe airport experience to all travelers, which is in line with the health standard recommendations stated by ACI in the Aviation Guide. Business Restart and Recovery as well as recommendations from the ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force [CART], "said Luis Felipe de Oliveira.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport also now has Green Star status on the Airport Health Accreditation 2020 map.
Biosafety and Biosecurity Management
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said that the success of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in achieving the Airport Health Accreditation was inseparable from the support of regulators and the wider community.
"The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transportation are very supportive of implementing health protocols. The Ministry of BUMN has also given encouragement to always prioritize health protocols in addition to maintaining service and operational aspects. Do not forget the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy which supports the aviation sector to be able to continue to contribute optimally, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
Muhammad Awaluddin revealed that the key to the health protocol at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is Biosafety and Biosecurity Management.
Biosecurity Management is carried out to protect the public from the dangers of COVID-19, with physical distancing programs, health screening, passenger touchless processing, facility cleanliness, people protection.
Meanwhile, Biosafety Management is aimed at keeping the environment healthy, with a program of biohazard precautions, environment screening, testing lab facilities, infrastructure sterilization and public health assurance.
Optimistic in the midst of a pandemic
The success of achieving the Airport Health Accreditation has made Soekarno-Hatta Airport more optimistic that it can provide peace and comfort for travelers, visitors and airport staff.
"The Safe Travel Campaign launched by AP II with stakeholders since July 2020 is getting stronger, because the health protocol at Soekarno-Hatta Airport has received global recognition several times, including this time from ACI," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Efforts to develop health protocols are continuously carried out by PT Angkasa Pura II to always create a safe, healthy and hygienic airport with a focus on 3C, namely Consistency, Confidence (increasing public trust) and Collaboration (strengthening collaboration among stakeholders).
The success of achieving accreditation from ACI has directly increased the optimism of PT Angkasa Pura II to always be able to meet global standards in operations and various other procedures including aspects of health.
"PT Angkasa Pura II airports have implemented a management and operational pattern that follows best practices in the global industry," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Previously, Soekarno-Hatta Airport was rated by Safe Travel Barometer as an airport that has successfully implemented a health protocol for preventing COVID-19, with a Safe Travel Score of up to 4.09 (out of 5).
