Minister of Transportation Observed Peak Backflow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Appreciated the Implementation of Health Protocols

01 Nov 2020

The number of airplane passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport today is estimated to reach 67,000 people

Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi directly reviewed the operation of Soekarno-Hatta Airport today, Sunday 1 November 2020, which is the peak of the reverse flow of the long holiday period 28 October - 1 November 2020.

The Minister of Transportation arrived at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport at around 14.30 WIB to then observe the health document validation process (results of the rapid test / PCR test) carried out by the Port Health Office of the Ministry of Health (KKP Kemenkes).

After that, the Minister of Transportation looked at the situation in the check-in area and the boarding lounge which is a place to wait for travelers before boarding the plane.

After inspecting the land side of Terminal 2, the Minister of Transportation headed for the air side of Terminal 3 to carry out a safety inspection (ramp check) of one of the aircraft.

The Minister of Transportation then also checked the flow of international arrivals, especially related to the enactment of the Indonesia - Singapore Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA).

“I make sure that airport services are running well. I appreciate PT Angkasa Pura II, airlines, KKP, AirNav Indonesia, Airport Authority, and especially TNI / Polri who are fully alert 24 hours. "

"Today we make sure service and safety run well, more than that health protocols are also running well. Health protocol must be guarded, "explained the Minister of Transportation.

Apart from conducting an inspection, the Minister of Transportation also distributed free masks to passengers, ground handling staff, and airport staff.

The number of backflow passengers
In the same place, PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport today is estimated to be around 67,000 people.

"Looking at the data we receive from the airline, the number of passengers at the peak of today's return flow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is around 67,000, which is the highest number of passengers in the midst of this pandemic. Meanwhile, we estimate the movement of the aircraft to reach 700 flights. "

"We hope that this trend can be maintained, and the most important thing is that PT Angkasa Pura II and all stakeholders can consistently implement health protocols through the concepts of Biosafety and Biosecurity Management," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Meanwhile, the level of on time performance (OTP) of flights at Soekarno-Hatta Airport reaches almost 90%.
