Soekarno-Hatta Airport Today Returns to Serve Umrah Flights

A total of 253 people from the congregation departed on Saudia Airlines

Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport is returning to serve Umrah flights starting today, Sunday 1 November 2020. This Umrah flight was realized after the Saudi Arabian government opened the issuance of Umrah visas for Indonesian citizens.

Previously, Umrah flights from Indonesia had been closed since February 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first Umrah flight today since it was closed about 8 months ago, is operated by Saudia airline SV 817 flight number Jakarta - Jeddah with a scheduled departure at 10.45 WIB and landing at 16.30 local time.

There are 253 pilgrims from Indonesia who took part in the flight with the Boeing 777-300 wide body aircraft. The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia Essam bin Abed Al-Thaqaf also sent off the congregation.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin said that prospective Umrah pilgrims were confirmed to undergo health protocols at Soekarno-Hatta Airport before leaving for the Holy Land.

"One of the health protocols is the examination of the PCR Test results which are valid no more than 72 hours before the time of departure," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Saudi Arabia also stipulates a number of other conditions, such as overseas pilgrims who must be 18 - 50 years old.

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin said Soekarno-Hatta Airport would ensure a smooth departure process for the Umrah pilgrims in accordance with the applicable protocol to maintain the trust of the Indonesian and Saudi Arabian governments.

"Now, Indonesian citizens can return to the Umrah service, where the first flight is from Soekarno-Hatta Airport. It is important for Soekarno-Hatta Airport to maintain this trust by implementing existing protocols including those related to the health aspect, ”explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
