Flight traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is busy, passing through 61,000 passengers

Jakarta - Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Novie Riyanto today, October 28, 2020, is inspecting flight traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

The review was carried out on the flow of passengers, operational and health protocols in Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, as well as carrying out a ramp check on the air side, accompanied by the Director of Operation & Service of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhamad Wasid and Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Agus Haryadi .

After conducting a review, Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Novie Riyanto appreciated the operation and implementation of health protocols on the first day of the long holiday from 28 October to 1 November 2020.

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport is able to keep the health protocol running," explained the Director General of Civil Aviation.

After inspecting Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, the review continued to the Jakarta Air Traffic Services Center (JATSC) building, which is the location for flight navigation services.

As for October 28, 2020, which is the first day of this long holiday period, the number of passenger movements at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is estimated to reach 61,000 people or the highest number of daily passengers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the flight frequency is also the highest, touching 638 flights.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin said that 27-28 October was the peak of the flow of departures during the long holiday period 28 October - 1 November 2020.

"In the midst of this pandemic, the average passenger at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is 40,000 - 45,000 people per day, and today, October 28, 2020, we estimate it will reach around 61,000 people. This is also in accordance with the reports we received from the airlines, that the number of passengers today reached around 61,000 people. "

"PT Angkasa Pura II is grateful for the efforts of all stakeholders and discipline of aircraft passengers so that physical distancing can be maintained. The health protocol can be implemented well in the midst of quite a crowd of airplane passengers, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Executive General Manager Agus Haryadi said personnel were prepared at a number of points to ensure health protocols were running well.

"Physical distancing must be maintained. Focus personnel anticipate at a number of points such as check-in areas, security check points, boarding lounges. Disinfection procedures in all terminals are carried out periodically, and surveillance in the CCTV room is also carried out 24 hours, "said Agus Haryadi.

Meanwhile, Head of the Air Force Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling Colonel Pas M.A Silaban (TNI AU) said, "Collaboration among stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is getting tighter in order to ensure that health protocols run smoothly and strictly."

As for the peak of return flow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, it is estimated to occur on 30 October and 1 November 2020.

PT Angkasa Pura II Director of Operation & Service Muhamad Wasid said that busy flight traffic also exists at other airports under the company.
