Government Gives PSC Stimulus at 5 PT Angkasa Pura II Airports: Cheaper Tickets, Recovering Flights!

22 Oct 2020

Jakarta - Airplane passengers who buy tickets from 23 October - 31 December 2020 for domestic departures at 5 PT Angkasa Pura II airports before 00.01 on 1 January 2021, are exempted from the Aircraft Passenger Service (PJP2U) tariff or also known as Passenger Service Charge (PSC).

The 5 airports are Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang), Kualanamu (Deli Serdang), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Silangit (Siborong-borong) and Banyuwangi.

The exemption of PSC at these airports is in accordance with the agreement signed today by the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin and the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Novie Riyanto, along with other stakeholders.

"PT Angkasa Pura II is very grateful and gives appreciation to the Ministry of Transportation for its stimulus to the national aviation sector through the exemption of PSC for airplane passengers. We believe this stimulus can make aviation more optimal in contributing to the economy, and also support the National Economic Recovery [PEN] program, ”explained PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin.

So far, airplane ticket prices have included PSC rates, and in line with today's agreement, later airplane tickets purchased and for special departures for a certain period do not include PSCs at 5 airports of PT Angkasa Pura II, which amount:
- IDR 130,000 / pax for departures from Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta Airport
- IDR 85,000 / pax for departures from Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport
- IDR 50,000 / pax for departures from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport
- IDR 60,000 / pax for departures from Silangit Airport
- IDR 65,000 / pax for departures from Banyuwangi Airport
- IDR 100,000 / pax for departures from Kualanamu Airport

Later the PSC rate will still be paid to PT Angkasa Pura II, but not from airplane passengers but from the government using the state budget.

Muhammad Awaluddin added, "This stimulus is certainly very positive because it eases the public regarding ticket prices."

PT Angkasa Pura II assessed that this PSC incentive can encourage airlines to reopen / add domestic route services, then airlines increase flight frequency on existing routes, and airports can increase the utilization of flight slot times.

"The expected impact of this incentive is that there is an increase in passenger movement at the airport and an increase in the level of passenger occupancy on the plane [load factor]," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Total passenger
During January - September 2020, the total number of passenger movements (departing, arriving, transiting) at PT Angkasa Pura II's 19 airports, both international and domestic routes, reached 27.30 million people.

In the same period, the number of passengers departing on domestic routes at 5 airports under the PSC incentive scheme (Soekarno-Hatta, Halim Perdanakusuma, Kualanamu, Silangit, Banyuwangi) was 7.40 million people or reached 68% of the total passengers only departs on domestic routes at 19 airports.

Specifically at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the number of passengers departing on domestic routes reached 5.51 million people or about 75% of the total passengers departing at the 5 airports.

"This data indicates that the 5 airports that are included in the PSC incentive scheme have a significant contribution to aviation traffic at PT Angkasa Pura II's 19 airports. We will coordinate with airlines so that this stimulus program can be utilized properly in an effort to increase flight utilization, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

PT Angkasa Pura II together with stakeholders at the airport also ensures the strict application of health protocols in the midst of this pandemic in order to create a safe, healthy and hygienic airport.
