Indonesia - Singapore Agrees on Travel Corridor Arrangement, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Prepares Passenger Departure and Arrival Pathways

Jakarta - The governments of Indonesia and Singapore on 26 October 2020. fully implemented the Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA) or also known as the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL).

This scheme is specifically intended for Indonesian citizens and Singaporean citizens who wish to undertake urgent business trips, diplomatic and official trips.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport, as the only airport that is the entrance to the TCA / RGL Indonesia - Singapore, has made a number of preparations, including establishing a special route for airplane passengers who take advantage of this scheme.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin said a number of provisions agreed by the two countries would be applied as a departure and arrival procedure.

"A number of check points will be passed by passengers on the Indonesia - Singapore route who use the TCA / RGL route, where the procedures that are applied focus on the health aspect," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

The following is the traveler's departure path at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the TCA / RGL scheme on the route Indonesia - Singapore:
1. Traveler through a thermal scanner at the passenger terminal of the aircraft
2. A traveler goes to the airline's check-in counter to then show the PCR test results that are valid for 72 hours and then verify the e-HAC (electronic health alert card) application
3. The flight process

Meanwhile, the following is the flow of traveler arrival at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the TCA / RGL scheme on the route Indonesia - Singapore:
1. The landing traveler arrives at the arrival terminal
2. Traveler goes to the check point clearance of the e-HAC application that has been filled in before departure
3. Traveler processes immigration and customs
4. Traveler goes to the PCR test check point. If stated negative, the traveler can proceed to their final destination in Indonesia. If the result is positive, the traveler will follow the quarantine process

"The PCR test results will be checked twice, namely when departing with a letter with a maximum result of 72 hours, and then the traveler will undergo a PCR test upon arrival at the airport. Currently PT Angkasa Pura II is preparing Laboratory Test Facilities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

As for the official statement regarding the implementation of the TCA / RGL Indonesia - Singapore, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said that Indonesian citizens do not need a visa to enter Singapore on condition that they have sponsorship of government agencies and enterprises in Singapore and apply for a safe travel pass.

Meanwhile, applicants from Singapore must have a government / business entity sponsor in Indonesia and apply for a visa online to the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration.

Then, eligilble travelers from Indonesia are required to register for the TraceTogether and SafeEntry applications while in Indonesia. Meanwhile, eligible travelers from Singapore are required to register for the e-HAC and PeduliLindung application while in Indonesia.

As for 2019, the Jakarta - Singapore flight is the 3rd busiest international route in the world.

Based on reports from OAG, over the past year there were 27,046 flights served by 7 airlines on this route, namely Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines, Lion Air, Jetstar Asia, Indonesia AirAsia, Scoot, and Batik Air.

However, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of flights on the Jakarta - Singapore route has decreased. In January 2020 the number of flights was still around 2,500 flights then dropped in September 2020 to around 300 flights.

The TGA / RGL which is implemented is a step to optimize flight routes from Indonesia to Singapore so that it can still contribute to support activities and the economy.
