PT Angkasa Pura Kargo Commemorates its 4th Anniversary


Jakarta - The cargo transportation sector at PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) airports was quite enthusiastic throughout the third quarter of 2020.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said the trend of increasing cargo transportation performance was seen from July to August 2020.

"The impact of this pandemic does exist and is also felt in cargo transportation, however the cargo market is still maintained. The smooth handling of cargo at PT Angkasa Pura II airports has also contributed to the growth of cargo transportation volume amid this pandemic. We hope that this upward trend will continue until the end of the year. "

"PT Angkasa Pura II, airlines, and other stakeholders ensure that cargo handling runs smoothly in order to support the performance of the national logistics sector in the midst of this pandemic," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

As for the third quarter of 2020, the increase in the volume of cargo transport at PT Angkasa Pura II airport began in July 2020.

During July 1-31 2020, the cumulative volume of cargo transport at 19 airports was recorded at 49.07 million kilograms, an increase of around 14% compared to June 2020 at 43.16 million kilograms.

Then in August 2020 the cargo volume was stable at around 49 million kilograms.

The trend of increasing cargo volume continued in September 2020 which booked 53.90 million kilograms or an increase of about 10% compared to August 2020.

Cumulatively during the third quarter of 2020, the cargo volume of 19 PT Angkasa Pura II airports was recorded at around 151.97 million kilograms. Especially at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which is the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia, the volume of cargo transportation for the July - September 2020 period reaches around 120.75 million kilograms.

As for the fourth quarter of 2020, it is estimated that the volume of cargo transportation at PT Angkasa Pura II airports can reach around 167.16 million kilograms to 174.76 million kilograms.

"The volume of cargo transportation in the fourth quarter of 2020 is estimated to increase by 10-15% compared to the third quarter of 2020, one of which is triggered by readiness ahead of Christmas and New Year in December," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

4 Years PT Angkasa Pura Kargo
The cargo management at PT Angkasa Pura II's airports is also carried out by PT Angkasa Pura Kargo (APK).

APK Managing Director Gautsil Madani said that food-filled cargo dominates the volume of cargo transport.

"This year, most of the types of cargo transported are fresh food, processed food, electronic goods / manufactured goods, and medicines," said Gautsil Madani.

APK is a subsidiary of PT Angkasa Pura II with a share ownership of 99.99%. This year, APK commemorates its 4th anniversary.

"One of the main focuses of APK is supporting Soekarno-Hatta Airport to become a domestic logistics hub with global service standards. The prospect of cargo transportation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is very bright, ”said Gautsil Madani.

APK currently has services ranging from shipping and managing cargo in the airport area including distribution centers, human remains and excess baggage, to management related to warehousing such as Line-1 and Line-2.
