PT Angkasa Pura II Launches a Safety and Healthy Campaign on National Transportation Day 2020

The importance of staying focused on keeping flights safe and healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic


Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) together with stakeholders to coincide with the National Transportation Day, 17 September 2020, launched the Safety and Healthy Campaign as a step to strengthen discipline in implementing aviation health and safety protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin opened this campaign online with stakeholders, namely the Ministry of Transportation, Airport Authority, airlines, AirNav Indonesia, ground handling experts on Safety & Risk Management.

"The main objective of the Safety and Healthy Campaign is that we can suppress the potential that can endanger flights and airport operations, and support government programs in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic at PT Angkasa Pura II airport."

"The focus of the campaign is the achievement of an Acceptable Level of Safety and Healthy Culture at all PT Angkasa Pura II airports, to maintain public trust in the air transportation sector," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Aviation safety aspects (safety)
Muhammad Awaluddin said that on every flight, the most activities that involve various parties are when the plane is on the ground or known as turn-around activites.

"Based on the research, these turn-around activities amounted to 46.22% of each phase of flight. Turn-around activities include refueling, loading and unloading of cargo and catering, technical checks, and so on. The discipline of all parties in these turn-around activities must be maintained to remain at the highest level in order to maintain safety aspects, ”explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Through the campaign launched today, PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders strengthen discipline in terms of cleaning foreign objects or hazardous materials (Foreign Object Debris / FOD) in the runway and apron area, then arranging ground support equipment (GSE) including nonmotorized GSE.

Health protocol compliance aspects preventing COVID-19 (healthy)
In the midst of the pandemic, the health aspect is one of the focuses where through the campaign launched today, PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders maintain discipline in implementing health protocols with a focus on 5 initiatives, namely maintaining distance, health checks, touchless services, cleanliness of facilities and sanitation and protection for everyone.

"The collaboration between PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders always aims to create a safe, healthy and hygienic airport. One result of this collaboration is an assessment from a global institution that Soekarno-Hatta Airport is one of the airports in the world capable of implementing strict health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

This Safety and Healthy Campaign was held at all PT Angkasa Pura II airports, namely Soekarno-Hatta (Tangerang), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang), Kualanamu (Deli Serdang), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru), Silangit (North Tapanuli).

Then, Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang), Supadio (Pontianak), Banyuwangi, Radin Inten II (Lampung), Husein Sastranegara (Bandung), Depati Amir (Pangkalpinang), Sultan Thaha (Jambi), HAS Hanandjoeddin (Belitung), Tjilik Riwut (Palangkaraya), Kertajati, Sultan Iskandar Muda (Aceh), Minangkabau (Padang) and Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu).
