Flight Traffic Recovery at PT Angkasa Pura II Airport Continues, Passenger Plane in July Up 143%

PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders implement strict health protocols through the Safe Travel Campaign

Jakarta - Recovery of flight traffic at the airports of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) continues in July 2020.

In the period 1 - 31 July 2020 the number of passenger movements in 19 airports cumulatively reached 1.52 million passengers or an increase of 143% compared to 1 - 30 June 2020 as many as 627,576 passengers.

Meanwhile aircraft movements recorded 21,431 movements, up 65% from the previous 13,020 movements. The volume of cargo transportation also increased 14% from 43.162 million kilograms to 49.076 million kilograms.

Specifically at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which is the largest airport in Indonesia, the number of passengers during July 2020 was recorded at 897,559 passengers, up 125% compared to June 2020 with 398,223 passengers, with aircraft movements up 68% to 12,270 movements.

PT Angkasa Pura II Director of Operations and Services Muhamad Wasid said slot time utilization at the company's airports has also increased. In July 2020, slot time utilization at the company's airports reached around 30%, such as in Soekarno-Hatta which reached 32%.

"Recovery of aviation traffic this year amid a pandemic has been taking place since mid-June, in line with regulatory support through various policies and implementation of strict health protocols at airports and aircraft so as to maintain public confidence in the national aviation sector."

"In August, we estimate the number of passengers, flight movements and utilization of flight slot time will increase. As an illustration, on Monday, August 3, 2020, the number of passengers in Soekarno-Hatta reached 37,000 passengers with 400 flights, which is quite high for the beginning of the week especially after the long weekend on July 31-August 1, "Muhamad Wasid explained.

Safe Travel Campaign
PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders are trying to maintain the momentum of the recovery of this aviation traffic by holding a Safe Travel Campaign from July to September.

Safe Travel Campaign conducted at the company's 19 airports in addition to ensuring strict health protocol implementation also refers to the protocol established by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTCC) as well as the International Airport Council (ACI).

PT Angkasa Pura II's SVP Safety and Risk Achmad Rifai said that through the Safe Travel Campaign PT Angkasa Pura II airports run strict health protocols at each departure and arrival point, which is supported by digitization and information technology.

"PT Angkasa Pura II and its stakeholders are trying to maintain public confidence in the national aviation sector so that it can optimally become an economic driver in the period of national economic recovery," Achmad Rifai said.

PT Angkasa Pura II currently manages 19 airports namely Soekarno-Hatta (Tangerang), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang), Kualanamu (Deli Serdang), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru), Silangit (North Tapanuli) .

Then, Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang), Supadio (Pontianak), Banyuwangi, Radin Inten II (Lampung), Husein Sastranegara (Bandung), Depati Amir (Pangkalpinang), Sultan Thaha (Jambi), HAS Hanandjoeddin (Belitung), Tjilik Riwut (Bandung) (Palangkaraya) and Kertajati (Majalengka), Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu), Sultan Iskandar Muda (Aceh) and Minangkabau (Padang).
