Physical Security, Bio-Security & Cybersecurity Run at PT Angkasa Pura II Airport in the New Normal Era

Jakarta - The national aviation sector has an important role in driving national economic recovery amid the global pandemic COVID-19.

Following this, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) together with national aviation stakeholders strived to realize a flight that consistently promoted health aspects and prevented the spread of COVID-19.

All health protocols are implemented at PT Angkasa Pura II airports, in accordance with circulars or regulations from the COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transportation.

At the same time, PT Angkasa Pura II also improved security aspects to prevent COVID-19 in all airports managed by the company.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that in normal times, security at the airport only focused on the threat of crime, terrorism and other threats.

"In normal times, airport security aspects focus on doing what is called Physical Security. Personnel at the airport maintain public access and limited access at the [Access Protection] airport, then carry out checks on prospective passengers to make sure there are no dangerous objects on the plane [Security Screening], and do profiling to find [Profiling Intelligence] threats. "

Then, in the new normal phase in the midst of this pandemic, airport security capacity was expanded with the implementation of Bio-Security.

"In the midst of new or new normal habits, airport security is expanded so that in addition to running Physical Security, the airport also focuses on Bio-Security to ensure there is a [Physical Distancing] distance, monitoring of [Health Screening] health, providing facilities that can run without touch [Touchless Processing], ensuring [Cleanliness & Sanitizing] hygiene and ensuring the health of [People Protection] employees, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

The course of Physical Security and Bio-Security at PT Angkasa Pura II was later also supported by technology that was strengthened by Cybersecurity.

"The aviation sector is very dependent on the integration of various complex systems and needs to be protected holistically, therefore we also focus on Cybersecurity."

"Physical Security and Bio-Security, supported by Cybersecurity, are now the new normal security at airports, ensuring security at the pre-journey, pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight stages," Muhammad Awaluddin said.

Safety aspects in the New Normal phase
The security protocol for the pre-journey phase in the new normal phase, for example, the use of the PT Angkasa Pura II Travelation application to upload travel conditions documents.

Then, the security protocol in the pre-flight phase of the new normal phase, among others, is carried out by temperature checking, UV-sterilizer facilities, hygienic restaurants and lounges, boarding processes by maintaining distance and so on.

Meanwhile, security protocols at the in-flight phase of the new normal phase at the airport, for example, carried out the process of disinfection on a new landing aircraft.

In the security protocol for the post-flight phase of the new normal phase, including checking the body temperature using a thermal scanner and recorded baggage disinfection.

"Physical Security, Bio-Security and Cybersecurity are currently running at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport which is the main gate of Indonesia and the largest airport in the country, and also runs at 18 other airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura II to keep flights safe from COVID-19, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
