Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) together with national aviation stakeholders prepared a strategy of recovery (recovery) of aviation traffic to support economic activity.
The recovery strategy consists of 4 steps, namely optimizing slot time at the airport, reactivating domestic routes, increasing frequency on each route, and normalizing airport operating hours.
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin, said the company and stakeholders sought to recover flight traffic starting this month.
"Starting in July 2020, we emphasize the start of aviation traffic recovery to support economic activities in Indonesia. The focus of the recovery at an early stage is the domestic route to strengthen the connectivity of cities in Indonesia. Of course, the national aviation sector continues to prioritize health and safety protocols, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Following are the 4 steps in the national aviation traffic recovery strategy:
1. Optimization of slots up to 30%
In the initial recovery phase this month, PT Angkasa Pura II is targeting slot time at 19 airports to be used by 30%.
For example at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in one day there are 1,100 flight time slots, then it is targeted to be used in one day as many as 330 slot time.
"Slot time is targeted to increase gradually. In July, we are targeting an average of 30% from before in the midst of this pandemic ranging from 10% -20%. Then in the next stage the target will be increased, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
2. Reactivation of flight routes
Optimizing slot time can be done through reactivating the routes that are still closed, and PT Angkasa Pura II together with the airline are coordinating intensively in this regard.
Reactivation of routes followed by increased demand will increase aircraft utilization.
Indonesian National Air Carrier Association (INACA) Chairperson Denon B. Prawiraatmadja said that optimizing aircraft utilities is important for airlines, and it is hoped that this can be done when the aviation sector has entered the recovery phase.
"Stakeholders in the national aviation sector include regulators, airlines, KKP Ministry of Health and airport operators to strengthen coordination and cooperation so that national airlines can recover. The aviation sector has a very important role in supporting economic activity in Indonesia, which is an island nation. "
"INACA complies with every procedure in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and greatly appreciates the efforts or the use of technology that can be used so that procedures can be carried out simply," said Denon B. Prawiraatmadja.
3. Increased flight frequency
PT Angkasa Pura II seeks to increase the frequency of flights on active routes so as to provide many alternative flight schedules for the public.
Managing Director of PT Citilink Indonesia Juliandra said Citilink's recovery began in June 2020 with an average of 68-100 flights / day, which in July rose to an average of 168 flights /
day, and target in Q4 200 flights / day (68% of normal conditions).
"We optimize aircraft utilization while maintaining health aspects through the disinfection process and the use of HEPA [High Efficiency Particulate Arrestor] air filters, as well as implementing the required health protocols including implementing physical distancing by maintaining a maximum capacity of 70% which is the commitment of Citilink in maintaining health and passenger safety. "
4. Normalization of airport operating hours
PT Angkasa Pura II Airport returned operating hours as they had been operating during normal times, before the COVID-19 pandemic. This is in order to increase airport readiness following rising flight traffic in line with optimizing slot time, reactivating flight routes and increasing frequency on each route.
AirNav Indonesia President Director M. Pramintohadi Sukarno said Airnav Indonesia would provide flight navigation services following the normalization of airport operating hours by prioritizing safety aspects.
"We also monitor flight plans according to route permits through the FPL Center and apply the flexibility of early / delay slots through the CHRONOS application, to adjust to the passenger boarding process at the terminal. We welcome the optimization of slots for this recovery. Collaboration is also carried out with all stakeholders, "explained M. Pramintohadi Sukarno.
The groundhandling party is also ready to support the recovery of the national aviation sector.
"Gapura Angkasa adjusts services to flight traffic during the recovery period," said Managing Director of Gapura Angkasa I Dewa Gede Mahayana.
