New Regulation Issued, PT Angkasa Pura II Optimistic that the Aviation Sector is Passionate

Terminal Capacity Restricted During the Pandemic COVID-19, This Technology Is Used in Soekarno-Hatta So that Flights Stay Smooth

Jakarta - The government issued regulations relating to transportation operations during the period of adaptation to new habits amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

These regulations are Circular Letter 07/2020 issued by the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, then Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 41/2020 and Circular Letter of the Director General of Civil Aviation Number SE 13/2020.

The three regulations allow public transportation including in the aviation sector to operate while maintaining hygiene and health protocols.

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the aviation sector responded positively to the issuance of the three regulations.

"Seeing the data we received, the airline responded positively to the issuance of the three regulations. The aviation sector is slowly getting excited again and certainly PT Angkasa Pura II as the airport manager keeps a close watch on the running of health and hygiene protocols at the airport. "

"We believe that the frequency of flight and airplane passenger traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the largest airport in Indonesia, will slowly move up in the adaptation period towards this new custom. We also remind that all aircraft passengers, airport personnel, airline personnel and others always wear masks, apply physical distancing according to signs at the airport, and wash their hands frequently, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

As is known, starting tomorrow the national airline Lion Air will also resume operations in Soekarno-Hatta, following Garuda Indonesia and Citilink.

Terminal Capacity
As stated in the Director General of Civil Aviation Circular Letter Number SE 13/2020, in determining flight slot time at the airport, one of the factors taken into account is the capacity at the passenger terminal during busy times by taking into account the area, configuration of airport terminal facilities and application of technology.

According to the circular, the terminal capacity is set at a maximum of 50% of the number of Busy Time Passengers (PWS) during normal periods, but can be increased through evaluation results by the Director General based on data and proposals from airport operators.

Muhammad Awaluddin said that through the application of information technology such as at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, terminal capacity in busy times could be determined more flexibly.

"Soekarno-Hatta applies information technology that collaborates all operational aspects to ensure smooth flight and passenger flow in all conditions. Plus, in the near future there is a new information technology that is immediately applied. Through the application of this information technology, the terminal capacity in Soekarno-Hatta can be determined to be more flexible, perhaps more than 50% of the number of busy time passengers, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

The application of information technology in Soekarno-Hatta in order to collaborate all operational aspects, among others through the Terminal Operation Center in Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

Each terminal's TOC will support collaboration between stakeholders centered at the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC). Overall, TOC and AOCC are the foundation of the airport operating platform for the Airport Operation Management System which is supported by reliable technology implementation.

"Through the implementation of information technology, Soekarno-Hatta can run a quick response, early warning system detection and operational effectiveness. The application of this technology can easily assist in determining the capacity of terminals that can be used, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

In the near future the Travel application will also be launched by PT Angkasa Pura II. Through Travelation, prospective aircraft passengers can upload the required documents such as a letter from the results of the PCR test or rapid test to be allowed to board the flight.

"Travelation aims to simplify the procedure in which documents are examined digitally. We hope this will have an impact on a simpler airport queue system procedure so that passenger flow can run smoothly, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

The queue system inspection procedure for health documents itself is one that is taken into account in determining the capacity of airport terminals during busy times.
