Smart Helmet, UV Sterilizer and Other Touchless Facilities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Ahead of New Normal

08 Jun 2020

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) has prepared a number of touchless facilities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport ahead of the new normal amid the global pandemic COVID-19.

The touchless facility is prepared to maintain the smooth activity at the airport for personnel, as well as airport visitors and airplane passengers while prioritizing COVID-19 prevention efforts.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said touchless facilities for personnel were related to security aspects, while airport visitors and airplane passengers were more concerned with service aspects.

"A number of touchless facilities in Soekarno-Hatta can already be used, where these facilities will also be used at other airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura II. Following that there will be more touchless facilities. This is our effort to promote the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 at the airport during the new normal period. "

"Currently, a touchless facility related to security aspects that is being tested in Soekarno-Hatta is the use of smart helmets by aviation security [avsec] personnel in the passenger terminal. We hope that the use of smart helmets can tighten supervision in the midst of a pandemic, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

The following touchless facilities are available at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport:

1. Smart helmet
This facility is used by Avsec personnel to conduct surveillance. This helmet can provide information about people's body temperature (contactless temperature detection), face recognition mode (face recognition), vehicle plate recognition (license plate recognition), night vision / facility inspection, QR code scanner and identify hot spots (thermographic diagnostic imaging) .
Through smart helmets, the capability of Avsec personnel is increased and can maintain various procedures strictly.

"Avsec personnel who use smart helmets can know each person's body temperature, can identify each person's face based on available information, so they can read the QR code. This smart helmet is very supportive of the Avsec task, especially in the new normal era, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

2. Body scanner / body inspection machine
At Security Check Point 2 (SCP 2) a body scanner or body inspection machine has been operated for avsec to inspect passengers without touching. Passenger aircraft simply enter into the body scanner engine and then the machine checks whether the passenger is still carrying hidden items or not. Inspection results will be informed on the monitor screen.

3. Travel
PT Angkasa Pura II developed a system called Travelation. Through this system, prospective passengers before arriving at the airport can upload the required documents such as the results of rapid tests. Document checking is then done digitally. Through Travelation, document inspection can be done in a touchless but still strict manner.

4. VICA
Through the Virtual Customer Assistant (VICA), the public can now ask directly about various information and services at AP II airports virtually or without face to face. The VICA service physically replaces the customer assistant at the terminal, and can be accessed through the site www.angkasapura2.co.id

5. Adjustment of elevator / elevator buttons
In Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, the elevator / elevator button is now adjusted so that it can be pressed using footwear than before using hands. This adjustment is done to avoid direct touch from people to the elevator button.

6. UV Sterilizer
Escalators and travelators inside the Soekarno-Hatta Terminal 3 building are now equipped with UV Sterilizer to eliminate viruses, bacteria and germs on the handrail. This cleaning tool continues to work and is functioned touchlessly to sterilize the handrail, preventing the spread of COVID-19.

7. Automatic sink
All sinks in Soekarno-Hatta are already using an automatic system, where users simply put their hands under the tap, then the water will flow. In all terminals there are also automatic hand sanitizer machines that can be used in the same way as an automatic sink.
