Opposing COVID-19, PT Angkasa Pura II Require Operational Personnel at 19 Airports Wearing Mask Fabrics

06 Apr 2020

Jakarta - All personnel of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) at 19 airports are required to use cloth masks as part of efforts to prevent or break the chain of COVID-19 distribution.

Fabric masks must be worn by personnel in charge of supporting daily airport operations on both the land and air sides, such as Aviation Security (Avsec), Terminal Inspection Services (TIS), Customer Service, Cleaning Service, Apron Movement Control (AMC), Officer in Charge (OIC) and others.

This is in line with the direction of President Joko Widodo who requested that everyone who goes out of the house must wear a mask. The directive was conveyed by the Head of State this morning, Monday, April 6, 2020, when opening a limited meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the policy to use cloth masks had begun to be implemented as of today at all the company's airports.

"PT Angkasa Pura II personnel at 19 airports in charge of supporting airport operations starting today have started wearing cloth masks. Previously personnel at the airport used medical masks, or maybe there were still those who did not use masks. Along with today's government directives requiring the use of masks for anyone, we require the use of cloth masks for all company personnel at the airport. At the latest 1 x 24 hours in the future all personnel of PT Angkasa Pura II at 19 airports have all used cloth masks.

"The masks that must be used are cloth masks which are also recommended to dispel the spread of COVID-19. We do not use medical masks that are currently urgently needed by doctors and medical personnel. Each PT Angkasa Pura II airport independently meets the needs of cloth masks for its personnel with specifications which can be used for 4-5 hours and can be re-used after being washed thoroughly with soap, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

The PT Angkasa Pura II airport with the highest number of operational personnel is Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. During the operational restriction period in the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of personnel in charge of supporting Soekarno-Hatta's operations ranged from 700 to 900 people per day.

As of today, these personnel have been wearing cloth masks.

"Tomorrow, we are targeting all personnel under PT Angkasa Pura II to support the operations of Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, Cargo Terminals and Non-terminal. We are targeting to use cloth masks at Soekarno-Hatta Airport," said Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Hatta Agus Haryadi.

PT Angkasa Pura II really hopes that other stakeholders at the airport, namely airlines, ground handling, and so on, also require each personnel to use cloth masks.
