Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) airports operate automatic disinfectant chambers spraying machines to checked baggage, trolleys at aircraft passenger terminals, and trays at security check point checks.
The checked baggage referred to is the bag, suitcase or other luggage belonging to the passenger that is inserted into the aircraft hull. After being unloaded from the plane, the trunk is placed in a conveyor belt in the break down area, to pass through the disinfectant chamber. Then with the same baggage conveyor belt go to the baggage claim area at the passenger terminal.
Meanwhile in the passenger terminal, the disinfectant chamber is designed so that the officer can insert the trolley to clean the viruses.
The disinfectant chamber is also used to clean trays that are passengers' luggage to enter the x-ray machine when undergoing inspection at security check points 1 and 2 (SCP 1 and 2).
PT Angkasa Pura II VP of Corporate Communications Yado Yarismano said the operation of the disinfectant chamber automatic machine was one of the company's innovations and efforts to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia.
"Spraying with disinfectant liquid is expected to clean or eliminate viruses in the checked baggage, trolley and x-ray tray. On top of that, we continue to campaign to wash hands after touching each item, because the most effective way is to wash your hands properly. "
Yado Yarismano said the disinfectant chamber was used by travelers and airport workers and now all of it was diverted specifically for spraying luggage, trolley and x-ray trays.
"As we know, the disinfectant booth for humans is now not recommended by WHO and even banned by the Ministry of Health. In line with that, PT Angkasa Pura II innovates to divert all of its uses to be specifically for spraying disinfectants to luggage, trolley and x-ray trays. We hope that this innovation can maintain the comfort and tranquility of aircraft passengers, "said Yado Yarismano.
In addition to spraying disinfectants into checked baggage, PT Angkasa Pura II routinely also sprayes in the passenger terminal area of the aircraft, public areas, office areas, public transportation and the air side at airports managed by the company.
Spraying is done by the sprayer using a disinfectant liquid that is able to clean the virus from inanimate objects.
"Spraying disinfectant liquid is carried out in all areas in 19 airports of PT Angkasa Pura II, including to points or objects that may be often held by travelers or airport visitors. We pray for and support the community so that the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will run smoothly, "Yado Yarismano said.
