Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) provides walk through disinfection (WTD) facilities at airports managed by the company to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
The WTD facility works by spraying disinfectant liquid on passengers and airport workers when they walk into the facility.
PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin hopes that the facility can make passengers, visitors and workers at the airport free from viruses that can be attached to clothing or other media.
"This WTD facility is one of our efforts to prevent the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 through spraying disinfectant liquid to passengers or airport visitors. We hope that this facility can also provide tranquility for aircraft passengers, airport visitors and airport workers. "
WTD facilities are available at PT Angkasa Pura II airport where as of today, Thursday, March 26, 2020, there are already 16 airports managed by the company, namely Soekarno-Hatta (Banten), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang), Kualanamu (Deli Serdang), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang), Supadio (Pontianak), Banyuwangi, Radin Inten II (Lampung), Husein Sastranegara (Bandung), Depati Amir (Pangkalpinang), Sultan Thaha (Jambi), HAS Hanandjoeddin (Belitung), Tjilik Riwut (Palangkaraya) and Kertajati (Majalengka).
Meanwhile, in the near future there will be 3 other airports, namely Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu), Sultan Iskandar Muda (Aceh) and Minangkabau (Padang).
The dimensions and system of WTD facilities at each airport are tailored to the needs of each airport. For example in Radin Inten II (Lampung), WTD facilities there are 220 x 150 cm in size using a motion detection sensor system where spraying is carried out electrically and automatically.
"The WTD facility at PT Angkasa Pura II Airport is located in the Passenger Terminal in the Arrival Area and Departure Area, and it does not close at all possible points," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Some airports under PT Angkasa Pura II also have WTD facilities that are specifically dedicated to personnel on duty at the airport, such as those at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
"Airports that have quite a lot of personnel or workers such as Soekarno-Hatta have special WTD facilities for personnel. We really hope that this facility can protect the personnel at the airport who must remain on alert in the midst of this challenging period, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Yesterday, PT Angkasa Pura II also sprayed disinfectant fluid simultaneously and en masse in Soekarno-Hatta which is the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia. Spraying is done in public areas in Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and Cargo Terminal.
Every day in Soekarno-Hatta, disinfectant spraying is also carried out in the area of Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and Cargo Terminal.
