The Efforts of PT Angkasa Pura II to Avoid Corona: Disinfection at Soekarno-Hatta Airport & Kualanamu and Tightening of Passenger Aircraft Health Monitoring

05 Mar 2020

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) seeks to prevent the spread of Corona (COVID-19) to Indonesia.

In the early hours of the morning, Thursday 5 March 2020 at around 00:30 WIB, PT Angkasa Pura II together with the Soekarno-Hatta Class I Port Health Office conducted disinfection at Terminal 3 and Skytrain at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Disinfection is done by spraying disinfectant liquid in a number of areas. As for this early morning the area that was sprayed with disinfectant was the arrival area of International Terminal 3 including the thermal scanner area to check the body temperature of the passengers of the aircraft.

In addition, cleaning using disinfectant liquid was also carried out on Skytrain which is a mode of transportation between the terminals in Soekarno-Hatta.

PT Angkasa Pura II VP of Corporate Communications Yado Yarismano said the spraying of disinfectant was carried out every day.

"Spraying disinfectant liquid is carried out every day in Soekarno-Hatta during non-busy hours or low hours. This is an attempt to sterilize public areas from viruses and bacteria. "

Spraying of disinfectant liquid was also carried out at Kualanamu International Airport in the passenger terminal today.

In addition to disinfection, PT Angkasa Pura II and KKP also tightened supervision of all newly arrived passengers from abroad.

Passengers who have just arrived from abroad are required to go through the Health Alert Card (HAC) procedure, then check body temperature with a thermal scanner and thermo gun.

"The number of health examiners in Soekarno-Hatta has also been increased, including consisting of doctors and airport service officers. There are 5 lanes for body temperature checking in Terminal 3 so they can be more organized. "

"Tightening of supervision is needed to better protect Indonesia, but it is done by not scaring airplane passengers. We still pay attention to aspects of service, security and safety, "Yado Yarismano explained.

PT Angkasa Pura II, Airport Authority, KKP, Immigration Office, Quarantine Office, Police and other stakeholders are committed in carrying out procedures to prevent the spread of Corona virus.

A contingency plan has also been prepared such as quarantining the aircraft if there are passengers indicated to have contracted Corona.
