Transportation Incentive, PT Angkasa Pura II Prepares PSC Discount of 20% for 1 Million Passenger Seats

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) provides incentives in the form of a passenger service charge (PSC) discount of 20% at all airports managed by the company.

This PSC discount is part of the Air Transportation Incentive Policy program launched by the government for 10 Indonesian Tourism Destinations namely Batam, Bali, Yogyakarta, Labuan Bajo, Lombok, Malang, Manado, Lake Toba, Bintan and Belitung.

The 20% PSC discount applies to 25% of seat capacity on flights from 1 March 2020 to 31 May 2020 for routes to and from 10 of these tourist destinations.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the PSC was a component of ticket prices, so PSC discounts automatically impacted on lower flight ticket rates.

"There are as many as 14 PT Angkasa Pura II airports connected with 10 tourist destinations. On the other hand, as many as 3 PT Angkasa Pura II airports are also part of the 10 tourist destinations, namely Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in Bintan, HAS Hanandjoeddin Airport in Belitung and Silangit Airport on Lake Toba.

"So, in total there are 17 airports of PT Angkasa Pura II that provide PSC discount incentives of 20%," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Of the 17 airports there are around 20,000 flights that serve flights in 10 tourist destinations.

The seat capacity of 20,000 flights is around 3.5 million passenger seats, and those allocated will get a 20% PSC discount of 1 million passenger seats or 25% of the total capacity.

"The airline passenger load factor [load factor] is currently 60-70%, so that through this PSC discount incentive given, we are targeting our airline load factor to rise to 90%," Muhammad Awaluddin said.

As is known, the Government's Transportation Incentive Policy is launched to stimulate the national tourism sector amidst the challenges of the global spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19).

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi in a press conference at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport today, Saturday, February 29, 2020, said this policy was in accordance with the Limited Meeting which was held twice and was led by President Joko Widodo.

"The incentives for airplane tickets come from cash prepared by the government, then incentives for passenger services from AP I and AP II, navigation services from Airnav and aircraft fuel (avtur) from Pertamina. We hope that this incentive will stimulate the tourism sector, "said the Minister.
