Preparing for Era Airport 4.0, PT Angkasa Pura II Involves the Academic World

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) signed a memorandum of understanding (Memorandum of Understanding / MoU) with Jakarta State University on Saturday, January 1, 2020.

The MoU is the first step for PT Angkasa Pura II to later work with UNJ on various developments for airport services and operations.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the MoU with UNJ was part of the company's program to improve synergy between the academic world and the industrial world.

"We currently have an Airport Learning Center and are preparing for a corporate university. We hope that later UNJ can provide input related to the formulation of syllabus and educational material for the corporate university. "

Previously, PT Angkasa Pura II had also collaborated with several universities including the Bandung Institute of Technology, Padjadjaran University, Telkom University, to Nanyang University (Singapore) and Coventry University (UK). Some time ago, PT Angkasa Pura II also conducted an MoU with Monash University (Australia).

"We want to realize the Indonesia Airport Research Center Study together with universities, so that the national airport sector has a research center so that it can support development in various aspects of service and operations."

On the same occasion, UNJ supported by PT Angkasa Pura II also held a focus group discussion The Future of Airport 4.0.

In the FGD, Muhammad Awaluddin said that the synergy between PT Angkasa Pura II and tertiary institutions was very much needed at this time given the implementation of the Aiport 4.0 concept.

"Nothing is more important to the corporation than preparing human resources, and PT Angkasa Pura II is very intense about talent development. If we talk now about Airport 4.0, it will be in vain when the most important moment will turn out that the preparations that have been made for human resources are actually not connected, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

As is known, PT Angkasa Pura II in 2020-2024 launched a Strategic Transformation 4.0 program that implements Airport 4.0 where service improvements are made through technological innovations such as artificial intelligence, internet of things, big data analytics, roboting, automation, virtual reality to augmented reality.

As for 4 years ago PT Angkasa Pura II has focused on the use of technology at the airport.

"Aircraft passenger traffic at 19 PT Angkasa Pura II airports has reached 100 million passengers. It is no longer possible to coordinate and collaborate between airport operators, airlines, air navigation and regulators in traditional ways. "

"Therefore, since 4 years ago we have initiated the Smart Connected Airport. The understanding is that Smart Airport is related to the automation process at the airport. While Connected Airport is how we collaborate with all stakeholders through technology support. And, now we are going to Airport 4.0, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

One of the speakers in the FGD was Prof. Richardus Eko Indrajit said the academic world could support the development of national airport through measurable research especially when entering the Airport 4.0 era.

In the Airport 4.0 era, said Eko Indrajit, airports must be able to provide operations that make a traveler comfortable.
