Soekarno-Hatta Airport Ready to Serve 21 Flight Routes Diverted from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport

Jakarta - Halim Perdanakusuma Airport was closed today, Wednesday, January 1, 2020, for the sake of flight safety and security because of the rain that flushed Jakarta since yesterday afternoon until now and has an impact on puddles on the runway.

Following this, all flights from and to Halim Perdanakusuma were diverted to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The distance between Halim Perdanakusuma and Soekarno-Hatta is not so far which is around 40 km.

Both airports are also operated by PT Angkasa Pura II with the concept of Multi-airports system so that they support each other.

Related to this, PT Angkasa Pura II ensured that Soekarno-Hatta was ready to serve all flights diverted from Halim Perdanakusuma.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Executive General Manager Agus Haryadi said all operational and service personnel on the air and land side were ready to accommodate the diverted flights.

"The capacity at Soekarno-Hatta is still available to serve flights diverted from Halim Perdanakusuma. In Soekarno-Hatta there are various facilities and procedures to support this, we are ready so that flights diverted from Halim Perdanakusuma can continue to operate normally serving the public," Agus said Haryadi.

There are a total of 21 flight routes diverted from Halim Perdanakusuma to Soekarno-Hatta, namely from and to Kualanamu, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Palembang, Solo, Malang, Jambi, Semarang, Lampung, Silangit, Belitung, Padang, Balikpapan, Ambon, Lombok, Kupang, Pekanbaru, Bengkulu, Batam and Tasikmalaya.

From these routes, today there were 71 arrivals of flights that were diverted to Soekarno-Hatta from Halim Perdanakusuma.

"Soekarno-Hatta is the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia, and is ready to support any airport related to flight operations in order to continue providing safe flight services to the public," Agus Haryadi said.

Meanwhile at Halim Perdanakusuma, PT Angkasa Pura II is currently making an effort to normalize the runway.

Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Executive General Manager Nandang Sukarna said that currently the runway is in the process of drying and cleaning foreign object damage (FOD).

"What is clear, runway will not be operated if it does not meet the specified procedures and safety levels. We have coordinated with the airlines so that all flights will be diverted to Soekarno-Hatta, "said Nandang Sukarna.

"We also provide a free bus from Halim Perdanakusuma to Soekarno-Hatta for passengers who have already arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma."

The airlines operating at Halim Perdanakusuma are Lion Air, Batik Air and Citilink for a number of destination routes. PT Angkasa Pura II appealed to aircraft passengers to pay attention to the latest information related to the flight switch from Halim Perdanakusuma to Soekarno-Hatta.
