Jakarta - The number of low-cost airline passengers on international routes at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport continues to experience growth this year.
Year-to-date from January 1 to December 13, 2019 the number of international passengers via low cost carriers (LCC) at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport reached 4.27 million people, an increase of more than 5% compared to the period the same last year which was 4.06 million people.
Meanwhile the number of LCC flights also recorded growth of 7.64% or from 29,139 flights to 31,364 flights.
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin said this year the company was more focused on working on the international passenger market via LCC to maintain growth in the number of passengers in the segment.
"The collaboration of PT Angkasa Pura II with all national and foreign airlines in the LCC segment this year is going very well and closely so that the market is responding well. Also through this collaboration, since May 1 2019, Low Cost Carrier Terminal has been operated at Terminal 2F of Soekarno Hatta Airport specifically for international routes. "
"The presence of the 2F International Terminal LCC turned out to have a positive impact where the frequency of international flights grew by 7.64% and the number of LCC passengers on international routes rose 5.04%," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
Muhammad Awaluddin said that through LCC International Terminal 2F, the operation and monitoring of the international route LCC market can be more controlled and effective.
At present the LCC segment airlines serving international flights at LCC Terminal 2F are AirAsia Group, Citilink, Lion Air Group (Lion Air, Thai Lion Air, Malindo Air), Tiger Air Scoot, Jetstar and Cebu Pacific. Within a day, LCC airline take off and landing movements in LCC Terminal 2F amounted to 108 to 110 aircraft movements. This condition will continue to be pushed to reach 150 to 160 aircraft movements a day in 2020.
Muhammad Awaluddin emphasized that the growth of the LCC market this year was also the success of the "Connecting The DOTS" strategy implemented by PT Angkasa Pura II.
"The DOTS Connecting marketing strategy is our effort so that airports can be efficient, effective and maximum in supporting economic growth and tourism in Indonesia. We hope that this strategy will also directly strengthen national air connectivity, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

In the Connecting the DOTS strategy the important role of PT. Angkasa Pura II contained in 3S. While 3S itself is in terms of providing flight slots (slot availability), orchestrating synergies between aviation stakeholders (stakeholders synergy) and ensuring quality of service quality.
