Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) has just officially become a controlling shareholder in PT Gapura Angkasa with a 46.62% stake.
Following that, PT Angkasa Pura II will spur PT Gapura Angkasa's performance to be more optimal in supporting the national aviation industry.
"PT Gapura Angkasa is a company with its main business is ground handling services that support the aviation and airport sector. We encourage performance in the business so that PT Gapura Angkasa can truly produce efficiencies in the national aviation industry. The aim is to improve air connectivity in Indonesia," said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin.
The strategy to realize this efficiency is by synergizing the airport operator business line run by PT Angkasa Pura II with the ground handling business line of PT Gapura Angkasa.
"The big concept is Portfolio Alignment, which means adjusting and consolidating business lines between the airport operator business line and the ground handling operator," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Muhammad Awaluddin said that PT Gapura Angkasa will also apply the concept of Smart and Connected Airport which has been carried out by PT Angkasa Pura II, so that the entire airport operations can run efficiently and effectively.
"The focus going forward is to integrate the implementation of Smart and Connected Airport in one ecosystem between airside operations and landside operations in airport operations," said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Furthermore, PT Angkasa Pura II and PT Gapura Angkasa will also work together in developing business. This is a strategy of PT Angkasa Pura II in encouraging the improvement of the nonaeronautical business by pursuing new business (new wave business).
"In the future, through the group synergy program, PT Angkasa Pura II and PT Gapura Angkasa will expand the scope of its portfolio to passenger services and operations, infrastructure services, including cargo & special cargo handling," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
PT Gapura Angkasa is one of the largest ground handling service providers in Indonesia and has prospects for further development in the future.
In 2018, PT Gapura Angkasa operates in more than 55 airports in Indonesia, handles as many as 80 million aircraft passengers and 59 million passenger baggage, and records the level of on time performance of the airlines served reaching 99.44%.
In addition to ground handling, services provided by PT Gapura Angkasa include warehousing and cargo services.
Currently the shareholders in PT Gapura Angkasa are PT Angkasa Pura II (46.62%), PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (45.62%) and PT Angkasa Pura I (7.76%).
