Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) increased the portion of share ownership in PT Gapura Angkasa from 31.25% to 46.62% through the rights issue mechanism.
Following this additional share, PT Angkasa Pura II became the controlling shareholder in PT Gapura Angkasa.
Other shareholders in PT Gapura Angkasa are PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (45.62%) and PT Angkasa Pura I (7.76%).
PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said PT Gapura Angkasa is one of the largest ground handling service providers in Indonesia and has prospects for further development in the future.
"As a controlling shareholder, PT Angkasa Pura II is targeting PT Gapura Angkasa to be greater as it is now by carrying out various expansions, as well as encouraging efficiency in airline operations and airport operations," explained Muhammad Awaluddin. The focus going forward is to integrate the implementation of Smart and Connected Airport in an ecosystem between airside and landside operations in airport operations.
In 2018, PT Gapura Angkasa operates in more than 55 airports in Indonesia, handles as many as 80 million aircraft passengers and 59 million passenger baggage, and records the level of on time performance of the airlines served reaching 99.44%.
In addition to ground handling, services provided by PT Gapura Angkasa include warehousing and cargo services.
"The addition of share ownership in PT Gapura Angkasa is also a strategy of PT Angkasa Pura II in increasing the contribution of revenue from the non-maritime business. We are targeting the contribution of non-telecommunication revenue in the future to reach at least 50% of total revenue, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
At present the contribution of non-silver revenue is still 39%, and the largest is still from the aeronautics business by 61%.
So far, which has been included in the aeronautics business is landing services, aircraft placement and storage (PJP4U), aircraft passenger services (PJP2U), and garbarata services.
Meanwhile, the nonaeronautics business includes space rental, land rent and concessions in the airport area.
Now, PT Angkasa Pura II has a strategy to improve the performance of the nonaeronautika business, among others by pursuing new business (new wave business) which is implemented through the establishment of a number of subsidiaries and the addition of shares in PT Gapura Angkasa. In the future, through the Angkasa Pura II group synergy program, PT. Gapura Angkasa will expand the scope of its portfolio to passenger services and operations, infrastructure services, including cargo & special cargo handling.
