Angkasa Pura II Officially Gets Mandate to Manage New Airport, This Time HAS Hanandjoeddin in Belitung and Fatmawati Soekarno in Bengkulu

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) once again won the trust to manage the government-owned airport.

On this day, the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation officially mandated the management of HAS Hanandjoeddin Airport (Belitung) and Fatmawati Soekarno Airport (Bengkulu) to Angkasa Pura II.

The mandate was stated in the Cooperation Agreement on Utilization of State Property (BMN) at Class I Airport HAS Hanandjoeddin and Fatmawati Soekarno, which was signed by the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Polana B. Pramesti and President Director of Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin in Jakarta, Sunday 13 October 2019.

Yesterday, through the same scheme, KSP of State Property, the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation handed over the management of Radin Inten II (Lampung) Airport to Angkasa Pura II.

Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that with the official handover of the management of these three airports, Angkasa Pura II now manages 19 airports.

"Today is part of history for Angkasa Pura II because our airport management portfolio has grown to 19 airports after getting an additional 3 airports through the KSP scheme for State Property this year."

"Certainly not only airport management that we do at the 3 additional airports, but also the optimization and development of facilities so that the airports can contribute greatly to economic growth and local tourism," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

In line with the agreed State Property KSP, Angkasa Pura II will receive aeronautical revenue, nonaeronautical revenue and cargo revenue from airport management. Subsequently, Angkasa Pura II made payments on fixed contributions and profit sharing to the Transportation Ministry's Directorate General of Transportation.

Angkasa Pura II will also submit the results of the development, construction and addition of facilities at the airports referred to the DGCA when the agreement ends.

Muhammad Awaluddin revealed that at HAS Hanandjoeddin Airport, Angkasa Pura II will build a new terminal and an expansion of the existing terminal to accommodate a maximum of 6 million passengers for the next 30 years.

This is because the existing terminal is inadequate because it can only serve 300,000 passengers, while the number of passengers coming and going from HAS Hanandjoeddin Airport has reached 1 million people per year.

"We have prepared Rp. 559.9 billion for HAS Hanandjoeddin, half of which is for terminal development. The rest is for other facilities such as runway thickening," he said.

The development will also be carried out by Angkasa Pura II at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport with a total investment of Rp622.6 billion. The investment is prepared for the construction of a new terminal in two stages to anticipate the movement of 5.6 million passengers in the next 30 years.

Meanwhile in the same place, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya hopes that Angkasa Pura II can maintain professionalism in managing the airport, which has been handed over by the government.

"Professionalism must be demonstrated because here we can show the public that the process requested by the President is right and brings benefits," explained the Minister.

Meanwhile, Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah is optimistic that Angkasa Pura II can develop Fatmawati Soekarno Airport so that it can support Bengkulu economic growth.

"Alhamdulillah, after 2 years of intensive discussions, finally tonight officially formally switched to AP II, it can be fully developed by AP II. We welcome it," said the Governor of Bengkulu.

Angkasa Pura II itself is committed to implementing global standards in the management of all airport facilities under the company, including 3 airports that have just been submitted by the government.
