PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) 19 Airport Security Tightening

13 Nov 2019

Jakarta - Security at 19 airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) was tightened following a suicide bombing at Mapolrestabes Medan, North Sumatra.

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that all Executive General Managers at each airport had been instructed to tighten security.

"We strive for airports under the management of Angkasa Pura II to be safe from terrorism and can operate normally to serve aircraft passengers and flights from all airlines."

"Angkasa Pura II together with all security elements such as the TNI / Polri increase alertness, by also increasing coordination with intelligence elements," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Implementation of the tightened security at the 19 airports under Angkasa Pura II is by conducting a random check on airplane passengers or airport service users along with luggage.

Random checks are carried out at the security check point (SCP), which is an inspection area with a metal detector, walking metal detector and x-ray.

At the airport itself there are two SCPs, namely SCP 1 where the inspection is carried out before the passenger plane enters the check-in area, and SCP 2 where the inspection is carried out before the passenger plane enters the boarding lounge.

In addition, random checks are also carried out on vehicles and people who want to enter the airport area and terminal building.

Security is also tightened at the Access Control Point (ACP), which is the point where vehicles or workers enter the air side of the airport.

In addition, K9 Unit has also been deployed to inspect luggage and bags / luggage that are in the baggage handling area.

"Currently the Airport Security Committee continues to monitor and coordinate fully in order to maintain security, safety and order at Angkasa Pura II airports," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

The airport itself is one of the national vital objects that has priority in terms of security.

Angkasa Pura II also ensured that flights at 19 airports are still running normally and smoothly.
