Here Are the Facilities for Disabilities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) and the Ministry of Transportation are pushing for the delivery of public services in the transportation sector that is disability friendly.

This week, AP II and the Ministry of Transportation socialized services for disabilities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. This activity was held in commemoration of 2019 National Transportation Day.

As many as 60 people with disabilities from various organizations such as DRESS, GERKATIN, YPAC, MRAD, JFBT, PERTUNI and Bina Daksa Budi Bhakti held a focus group discussion regarding good public services in the transportation sector.

Persons with disabilities also visited the Airport Train Station and Terminal 3 to find out facilities for people with disabilities.

VP of Corporate Communications Angkasa Pura II Yado Yarismano said that on Wednesday 11 September 2019 at Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta, a joint commitment was also signed in relation to disability services.

The commitment signing was carried out by 23 BUMN and private sectors in air, land, sea and rail transportation sectors.

"AP II is committed to always providing the best service to disabilities, where the airports that we manage have a number of special facilities for disabilities. We invite other transportation sector operators to also provide the best service for people with disabilities. "

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport is one of the airplane passenger terminals that has quite complete facilities that are disability friendly and we have made it a model for disability service standards at other AP II airports," said Yado Yarismano.

A number of facilities for disabilities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, among others, start from a special area where passengers drop off, which are given a yellow color, wheelchairs, toilets, special lifts, golf carts, and travellators.

In each terminal there are also priority seats for disability, and Skytrain as a means of transportation in the Soekarno-Hatta area is also very friendly for disabilities.

In addition, Soekarno-Hatta also operates low-floor buses that are friendly to wheelchair users on the air side, then buses with facilities that facilitate wheelchair users on the land side, and alert customer service personnel to service the needs of people with disabilities.

Some time ago, Soekarno-Hatta was also successful in welcoming disability athletes who competed at the 2018 Asian Para Games.

Yado Yarismano said that disability services at Angkasa Pura II airports refer to PM No. 98 of 2017 concerning Accessibility for Public Transportation Services for Users with Special Needs.

"Angkasa Pura II will soon be recruiting people with disabilities as Customer Service personnel, Terminal Operation Centers, and Contact Centers," said Yado Yarismano.
